New Omega Vintage Owner

Hello! I'm just starting to get into vintage watch collecting and have a vintage Omega "bumper" with movement 342. I'm curious about starting the watch. I have pulled out the crown to set the time. Is the next step to wind the crown clockwise like traditional automatic watches? If so, how many revolutions? I suspect this is the case but wanted to be sure. Many thanks!

Push the crown back in and just wind until you get full resistance. Pretty standard. Wind daily.

Cal. 342 is an Omega automatic movement. There should not be any point where you get “full resistance” on the mainspring. There is a slipping clutch in the barrel to prevent this.

Just give it 30-40 winds of the crown and it should be close to a full wind.

It's a bumper automatic. Wind it 20 revolutions and your arm movement will keep it wound. If you wear it daily, you shouldn't have to wind it.
