Just seems like a lot of buzz about....Buzz.
I tried to find a link to the auctions this AM but didn't come up with anything except for an article talking about a few of the items.
Looks like just a marketing push for now...

Such a disappointment. Make a big announcement to make it sound like a new watch is coming out only to do nothing.

There is a 5 minute video on Sotheby's site about the upcoming sale. No mention of any horological items.

WSJ Today
Odd for there to be an advert for the standard Moonwatch using one picture of the standard and one of the EW321

I doubt that's is it. There may be nothing at all, just some hype for the moon landing and the moonwatch, but it can't be about an auction 🤔

An Ed White post with Buzz wearing it on their IG page, guess that’s it for today.

All this hinting for nothing

I think they only have so many takers in 'the watch world' willing to spend $15k on it. I feel like now they're hoping to catch more interest from the Rolex types who don't really care about watches. After all, the 321 is not going to have the same limited scope as a 50th Anniversary Snoopy watch.

I think you're entirely incorrect. I think there are plenty of people willing and able to spend $15K on a 321...

What are you talking about, they are standing around in the shop windows…

PSA: The above reply contains heavy amounts of sarcasm 😉

Very few people read the PRINT edition of the WSJ anymore. I subscribe to it but I read it online and it contains NO ads. I can download the print version to my tablet but I rarely do unless I'm travelling and want to read it on the plane. 99+% of the readers of the print edition wouldn't notice, and wouldn't care, that the watch on Aldrin's wrist is different than the other one pictured. This is just marketing to tie in the Omega Speedmaster to the moon landing 53 years ago. But no one really cares about the event 53 years ago, you aren't going to see any news coverage about it. This is just Omega advertising fluff. The hype was just built up in the minds of the posters here on OF who constantly look for clues to what Omega will be presenting in the future. Maybe something will still come in the coming days.

No matter; while Aldrin is wearing the 321 in the portraits the marketing campaign appears generalized to the Speedmaster Professional, maybe even the entire current range (incl the 57, the Chronoscope, the Racing etc).

My opinion? They're putting out the splashy campaign with Aldrin front and center while they still can. Guy's not getting any younger.

Just because it appears to be Buzz Aldrin day and it’s funny.

They're not sitting in shop windows because Omega is intentionally restricting production in an effort to drive up hype. So while there may be a waitlist now, it's probably not going to last.

Waitlists can be permanently maintained if the manufacturer has the proper product and manages it properly. The Hermes Birken bag has been in production for years yet a woman can't just walk into a Hermes boutique and buy one. There is a perpetual wait list. Omega could do the same with the 321 for years to come. Create a halo product and manage its availability to the public. For now that is what Omega is doing.
