Well I'm glad to say i am a new first time owner of an Omega, however think i have gone into it a bit "head first" and have no idea what I have actually purchased. I have some decent photos of the watch, however I cant seem to find very much info on it at all! Also the band from what I gather is going to be to small for my wrist. Any info on this particular watch or where I would be able to find a replacement band would be greatly appreciated! Cheers Kevin-
Hi Kevin. Welcome to Omega Forums. You have a caliber 1425 day/date inside what looks like a case reference 396.0977 - although that case usually housed a 1432 date only. The reference number will be nearly identical to that, found on the inside of the caseback. The basic model it's based on is the 196.0287 and then the bracelet is added so the first 1 is changed to a 3. You could try ofrei.com for help with extra links.
Thanks so much for the info! Is that style hard to find a band that fits? I can't seem to find much of anything about the way the band connects to the watch. Is there any other leather options or would I be stuck trying to find links to add?
Can't be much help since your asking questions about a watch outside my collecting date parameters. I do 50's into the early 70's. A custom strap might be the only option - one made to size that fits the connections to the case.
I was looking through the website and found one that looks similar. A bit worried it will be entirely different tho. Planning to give it a shot but figured I'd wait until the watch arrived first. was hoping someone somewhere had the same issue as I and had the answer ha!
