New NASA replica watchstraps

Hate to say it but I'm not a huge fan. Like @Cenzo said the hook material could be longer but then I think it would reduce the size range of wrists it would fit. It still feels plenty secure so its fine. My gripes however would be the material that contacts the skin is super scratchy. I had to blow the dust off my speedy suitcase just to compare it to the included astronaut strap and this one is clearly more "rough" than the long one that omega includes. The grey color comes off as a light green in natural and artificial light. I thought as soon as I opened the package that I was shipped the wrong color but comparing it to the green online it's clearly the grey. Regardless, it still looks green to me and I was turned off from the green one posted basically for that reason...... I didn't want a green strap Haha. Next on the list of my complaints, the gap that is left from this not being a full 20mm (see red circles in pic) Being a replica to something nasa would use, you'd assume the first watch that comes to mind would be a speedmaster with 20mm lug width. Lastly, and maybe this is my OCD, it annoys me that the p/n-s/n arent facing me when worn. (See picture) In the example shown the wearer has his writing facing him and thats what I would have preferred. Maybe that last one is me being picky.

So sorry you didn't like them as much as you thought you would. A few of the things you pointed out are actually historically accurate. The color and gaps match the original NASA issued watchbands. What is different is the use of modern mil-spec velcro, which is extremely sturdy but can be slightly rough on the back side of the material. I wear one of ours daily and I haven't noticed it being uncomfortable in the least, but to each his own.

Also, the orientation of the PN and SN are correct, and the same for all of our watchbands. There are two ways to attach the watchband to the lugs: straight through like a NATO, or wrapped around each lug (watchback will be bare against your skin). Both are seen in original NASA photos. The second option allows the PN to be facing you.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Was grey a color actually used by NASA or just green and white?

Yes, gray was used by NASA. Most recently a surviving gray version was sold with Dave Scott's Bulova watch he wore on the moon during Apollo 15.

I think you're mistaking this strap for a luxury item. There's nothing about a velcro strap that's supposed to be intentionally aesthetically pleasing, or tactile. The whole ethos of what makes it cool at all is the purpose-built utility of the item. I don't think Ed White cared that the serial # wasn't facing him when he was conducting EVA!

I dont think I'm confusing this 25 dollar strap with a luxury strap....
The direction of the number was the least of my issues as stated. Mainly I'd stick with the fact that this is pretty irritating to the skin as compared to the velcro strap that came with the watch. I don't care what the price is or whether it's a luxury strap or not...... it shouldn't be rough and scratchy the way it is. At the end of the day this is what it is... a replica strap. If I displayed my watch then this would be fine since it would be for display, but I'm not gonna wear it and be uncomfortable.

Again, I'm sorry if it's uncomfortable for you. If you would like to return it I can send you a return label and issue a refund once it arrives. Let me know by emailing [email protected].

Best,

Ok. I just received my strap. Here is my take.

It is extremely nice, comfortable, and sharp looking. It over-exceeded my expectations.

Here I have my German Laco Aachen Flieger Pilot watch attached with the grey strap.

Where did you hear 2 weeks? We ship from Philadelphia, you'll have it in 3 business days.

Brought this strap back out to put on the speedmaster again. I looped the strap like this

and it's much more comfortable rather than putting it through the springbars like a Nato

Just bumping this because I think I'm going to order. Only $30 for a strap I almost paid $130 for.

Thanks for the info.

Call me crazy but I wanted a NASA replica. It's the ONLY time I'll use a replica in my collection
