Hello, I'm Christopher from Philadelphia. Love the forum, been creeping on it as a non-member for awhile before getting my first Omega a few weeks back. I'll give you a little of my watch history, it all started when I was a young kid in the 80's with my first watch, a gold digital Casio followed shortly by my first Seiko. My uncle ran a jewelry store and I remember going in there just marveling at all the beautiful watches. As a 10yr old kid, my life was consumed with watches and baseball cards. I can't remember not having a watch on my wrist since I was a kid but I really didn't get into collecting watches until my mid-twenties. It started with a Seiko diver and that led to a 20yr Seiko collecting binge that ended about 2 years ago. I had about 20 or so and I just got to the point where I wanted to downsize, so I started giving them away to my nieces and nephews as they got older, I'll get back to that in a second. I'm not one that pledges allegiance to one brand over the other, I feel that with anything in life, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I buy the watches that I like to look at, it can be a $150 Seiko diver or my personal holy grail watch, a Patek Phillippe Nautilus, something I will never own btw haha. I have always loved the look of the old Omega Sea and Speedmasters but also the old Rolex Daytonas. I was looking into trying to find one that was in good condition that didn't break my bank but could never find one that I was conformtable with pulling the trigger on. A couple of years back I broke off an engagement with my ex and was fortunate enough to get the ring back, it sat in a safe in my vault for 4 years until I found a jeweler who was also an authorized Omega dealer who would give me a good price for the ring on a trade in with a watch. So a couple of weeks ago I visited the jeweler and tried on all the Omegas, Mont Blancs, Breitlings and a few others. Loved a lot of the watches I saw but I really liked the way the Omega Seamaster 300 with the leather band looked and felt on my wrist, so I bought it. Absolutely love it, I can't take my eyes off it, just a beautiful looking everyday watch. I went with the leather band because I feel it's more versatile with whatever I am doing or wearing, plus I still have my very first Seiko diver that I use anytime I'm in water or on adventures. So, getting back to my nieces and nephews, I like to think that I got them all started on watch collecting. They all have pretty decent collections for their ages, ranging from 13 - 22yrs old. In fact my 19yr old nephew has more watches than I ever did and he just started his 2yr courses at the Rolex Lititz Watch Technicum, I'm actually going there Friday for a tour of the place, so I'm super excited about that, it's nice to be able to share in that with the younger generation. It's his dream to finish up his schooling in Switzerland and eventually work for Rolex. I keep telling him to follow his dreams and don't stop until you reach them. Anyway, sorry for the long write up, I'm just a nerd when it comes to watches, it's like porn to me haha. Attached is a picture of my new Seamaster
