Hello everyone!

My journey here started with the idea that for my 30th birthday I'd like my first watch. I've never been one for buying things, but rather than continually telling my partner that I don't need anything, I decided that I should get something meaningful. Somehow, that decision has led me down the path Vintage Omega watches, which I feel is a rabbit hole that no one makes it out of. That said, I'm hooked on the idea that I'll soon be wearing a bit of history. Thankfully, I'm never one to rush into buying anything, and thanks to the advice posted many times here, I hope to avoid the pitfalls of vintage watches.

Canada….isn’t that America, or France?😕

@Ash3313 Welcome, take your time, look at the pretty pics and find the precious. Then, when you buy it realise that it was the gateway watch.

Welcome! Any particular reference you’ve locked in on or still wide open?

Welcome to the rabbit hole. If you see the exit please let others know. Still it is quite comfortable, and one does not have to deal much with the outside world.

There is a lot of eye candy here. So there is a lot to go through. Questions help get the post counts up too.

London, England - who knew there was more than one? 😉

I'm not exactly sure what a T4AP is, but sure!

Welcome! Any particular reference you’ve locked in on or still wide open?

Still wide open, although black dials and sub-second hands have caught my eye. Probably something stainless steel over gold as well. Any recommendations?

Hi Ash!. ..
.so we can change at any time 😉
I think its a good plan to start with buying a vintage speedmaster and for your 30. birthday, speedmasters from the nineties are so beautiful!

This was the birthday watch for my elder son for his 30. birthday last year...

Sorry, but I'm very new to vintage stuff myself. I've recently become obsessed with C-case Constellations which don't really fit what you mentioned.

Here is a post that has exactly what you mention though. It's good to not be in a rush. Take your time and do your homework. Hang around here and you'll learn a lot really fast and be ready to jump when the right watch turns up. All the best!

Its nice! So far I've been drawn to dials on the simpler side, so I'm probably going to go down the path of a '50s or 60s Seamaster. The smaller size will also make getting used to wearing something easier I hope.
