    Hello all,
I've looked at watch forums for a number of years and finally decided to join a few I like. My daily wear is a Tudor Heritage Ranger that has literally been to hell and back. A number of years ago I had a nice collection, but life happens. I've had some cheap cheap watches from fossils and similiar watches that got me into it to a small step up like a reactor, croton, sturhling, raketa, bulova and my first swiss was a hamilton khaki chrono.
    I personally love tool watches.

    Bienvenue à l'amateur de montres!

(I hope that means Welcome Fellow Watch Lover, but Google translate has a habit of changing meaning from innocent to naughty sometimes :D).

I've spent many hours in your beautiful country and hope to be back again some day. I've also met some lovely people (both in person and "virtually") via this forum.

I think you'll fit in well here.

    Cordialement

    Jim

(sorry, don't know the French translation for "JIM")

Welcome from Los Angeles near the heart of Westwood Village.

You will learn, you will be amazed, you will be befriended, and you will enjoy your time discussing watches and everything else in between.
I have always enjoyed my trips to France; a beautiful country with an incredible history, culture, architecture and cuisine. I have had nothing but wonderful encounters with the people, of course, it helps that my son speaks fluent french with a Parisian accent.

I'd like to see what a watch looks like that has been to hell and back...show us your Tudor Ranger

I have taken it through a jungle, a desert, several mountain ranges, fired countless rounds from various weapons wearing it, done demolition with it on, been through countless airports, run countless kilometers and all manner of other things with it on. It runs a bit on the slow side, but within COSC, although it is not COSC certified. The sapphire remains unmarked. I do not baby it although I certainly take care of it. To me, there's a certain beauty to a tool watch that has clearly been used for its intended purpose and put through its paces, but that does its job. The worst mark of them is, on the bracelet's links, behind the clasp, was funny enough, from falling down a flight of stairs.

    Welcome. Looking good.

This piqued my interest greatly. You retired from the Légion étrangère , GIGN, Commando Marines or some other Bèrets Vèrts perhaps?

Not retired, however I've recently taken up a more sedentairy lifestyle due to a sickness, my days of running and gunning have been put on hold for a few years. Lègion, and before that another military.

Thanks for sharing. I wish you health and recovery so that if you wish you can get back to running and gunning, and if you so choose, just retiring .

    All the best

    Welcome, jacqul,

I've not been a member long, but they seem like a friendly, helpful bunch on here.

I also have a Hamilton Khaki King day date & it is a super great value watch.
