Hi, Just joined the forum as bought my first speedy. I love it and off to Simon freese next week. Question is I am struggling on crown. Ebay has listings but not sure what to trust. Any advice? Sorry if this is an overdone thread question. Hadders
Thanks, is there a parts number I should look for for a replacement as assume original is like hens teeth?
Simon Freese should have the service replacement crown. Period flat foot cost between $300-$500usd. Used to new old stock.
Thanks! Is it worth trying to get a flat foot or would you not bother? Does it have a big effect on future value ie is it worth doing it now whilst labour already needed as part of service? Thanks again for your help
I would put a service one for now and look for a good flat foot! when you find it , it can be easily installed. by the way, your watch will look great after service!
Hi, yes it is, drop me your email and can send you some. Any in particular? The ones in the catalogue were pretty accurate to be fair
Wondering what a new plexi or polish of the plexi will do, I think it will look damn beautiful after that!
Think Simon is going to try and Polish Plexi rather than replace it. It has a small hairline crack in crystal at 12.00 but I prefer the originality
Correct. But remember the the 24 point flat foot crowns came in at least 3 flavors: 1.0mm stem = 321 movement for Speedmaster 1.2mm stem = 284, 285, 286 movement for 2914, 135.004 Railmaster 0.9mm stem = 501, 552, 565 movement for 2913.14755.165.X, 166.X Seamasters Luckily, watchmakers can adapt an incorrect stem size.
Aside from having the different stem sizes, the height of the crown is varied as well. The correct A1 flat foot crown for 321 Speedmaster should be 3.8mm in height or thickness however you call it compared to 3.0mm for some of that of 2913/2914 on Railmaster and Seamaster, while sharing the same 6.75mm in diameter.
Photos as promised!! Excited about bringing it back to life! That is a lot of wabi.....movement looks really clean thankfully
