Hi, I've been looking for a watch from my birth year and this one on ebay caught my eye but some of the things don't seem to match the information on this and other sites. For example, the movement doesn't seem to be signed, I can't read any model numbers and the caseback doesn't look right. On the other hand, the seller has significant positive feed back. Does anyone have any comments about the authenticity of this watch and secondly, any awesome 1967 model watch I should search for?

    Thanks

It's a 168.004 and it's a refinished dial. The movement isn't in great shape, and the date wheel has been replaced with the wrong color (although it looks kinda cool). I'd pass and look for a better example. There's plenty of 1967 Omegas around.

    This Chronostop is from 1967:

You can find these in very good condition for under $1100, sometimes around $900. At 40.5 mm across and 43.3 mm measure 2 - 8 ø, it has the size and look of a much more modern watch.

I think I'll wear it now.

Dennis summed it up fairly well. I would add that the dial refinishing job was very poor and that the case, especially the back has been very over polished.

That seller advertises a lot of watches with redials that aren't exactly "top quality".

But may I congratulate you on an excellent birth year ;)

Dial : The Original Dial has been Repainted By an Expert to make it Look like New & Flawless.

The above statement from the listing sums it up for eBay sellers - if the slab of metal is the same one that came out of the watch, it's an "Original Dial".

Yes, just one year away from perfect.

Omega Speedmaster Pro 145.012-67 Speedmaster Pro, the best balance between coolness (cal 321 movement and applied logo dial) and affordability (under $3k) and they're around, and from 1967.
