Hi All,

I'm thrilled to have finally acquired one of my long-sought-after dream watches - the Omega Megaquartz f2.4 Mhz Aventurine Stardust. It's a beautiful thing to behold, with a glittering adventure dial that looks like sky full of stars. One surprising thing, it's loud! I can hear it ticking from 10 feet away. Is that normal?
I think I did pretty well on this purchase, but I'd love your feedback and any tips on care and maintenance. Is there a way to figure out what year it's from?
I also own its competitor for the title of world's most accurate watch, the Seiko 3823 from 1972, which I'll post about when I get it back from service. The Megaquartz brings my Omega collection to four watches. I feel like I've got a respectable collection now.

I still miss my stardust. Unfortunately, spare parts are non existant so I sold it. STS in the UK has some spares, but the cost of service is very expensive due to the rarity of parts. If its working well, i suggest you wear it for the beauty and only install a battery a few times a year to keep the lubricants going. That may be an unpopular suggestion, but you should stash 1k to 2k away for a service if you want to wear it often.

Yes they service it but more or less 2000chf due the fact they have a limited stock of parts

Very nice. Envious! And that gold 32khz Omegaquartz is pretty tidy as well.
Maybe just a Speedsonic to round out the 1968-72 era?

Congratulations! There’s nothing like a Stardust.

I can similarly hear mine from that far away - it competes with my quartz wall clocks.

Adding a favorite pic of mine that was fixed by STS in 2019.
