Hello, is there any info somewhere with which leather straps the Omega 1510 Megaquartz f2.4MHz Stardust was originally equipped, when it was launched in 1974. At the moment I know of 3 types (brown and black shark leather and brown crocodile leather) but what the most interesting is, which closures were used. There is the n° 27 clip closure, but also the normal buckle closure. But as you can see from the attached photos, this one of mine has an unknown type (and also buckle). Thanks in advance.!

You can occasionally find clasp* closures on eBay, they are around $100, best to buy them with a used leather so you have a template to get a new leather made and also make sure the one internal part is there that holds the adjustable side of the leather (I assume No:27 is generic Omega)

I'm surprised the leather versions (SS or 18k) would not all have come with the 27 clasp. Do you have reasons to think this is the original setup of your watch ?

Yes, that's where my doubt is. I have also seen regular leather straps on the internet, but always with an Omega print in the leather strap. This one doesn't have this, no numbers, no logo, no name in the leather. And no Omega sign on the buckle. That there ever would have been versions without the n° 27 clips seems to me of course possible. Why I am surprised is that, this wristwatch comes from someone who had very good contacts with Swiss manufactories, including Omega and Lemania etc... Then why would he use a different or non-original strap .... ;-) .

Aftenoon all

the strap on the OP’s watch appears to be aftermarket. Omega originally made a few strap variants im aware of, all with 16mm N27 deployant buckles and the same locking mechanism as the chronostop! Great bands

originally they came in smooth black leather (although I’ve seen one that in the sunshine was brown and always wondered if it was intact faded black), black sharkskin and brown crocodile

the orignals can occasionally be found, most of the time they are used but still in excellent condition. They generally sell for between £150 and £250!

omega do made a modern service replacement, theses used to be about £40 and then suddenly jumped to £250, I will try and find the strap reference number, I know they can still be ordered through STS and swatch UK. The modern replacement is black calf and uses and standard 16mm omega pin buckle.

Hope this helps!

best wishes Tom

Tom,
Of course this helps. (and others) The launch of this beautiful timepiece is also 48 years ago. And now I can enjoy this, with all the necessary and correct info!! Also because it has a family value for me.
Thank you very much Tom (and the others 😀 !!!
