New collector, looking for some advice on a Seamaster

Hello everyone,

I want to say thanks for your help upfront. I'm a new collector and have some questions/concerns before pulling the trigger on my first Seamaster.

Two questions:
Any concerns with this not being authentic? I'm not quite sure what to look for other than very basic things.
What is the approximate value? I will be buying because I love the look, but want to make sure im not getting screwed over.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! 287359906_702652397583830_4604612981491775338_n.jpg 287635242_607877070379879_3527813115446112223_n.jpg 288208629_556479359251427_7362599232162227667_n.jpg

Need photos of caseback interior and movement to better assess value.

Im a practitioner of the Condition Condition Condition Philosophy so the dial wear would turn me off here as well. Minute markers look like theyre missing on a large portion of the dial. Pump the brakes and do some research into how to properly find great examples, plenty of nice threads on here.

Good luck!

Looks like a ref 165.002? Perfectly genuine but I think the crown, albeit genuine is incorrect for this reference.

I actually don’t mind the dial, but obviously it will be worth less than a pristine example.

Is it from a dealer with documented service and warranty or a private sale? Private sale, unserviced would be around £/$350-400 I’d say. With a better dial it would be slightly more.

Edit: is the dark patch around 8 o’clock shadow or discolouration? I didn’t notice this at first glance and thought the patina was uniform. If this dark area is on the dial, I’d say it’s more £300.

The watch looks authentic at first glance, although it would be necessary to see the inside in order to determine if everything lines up. The condition of the dial is a huge fraction of the value of a watch, some people say as much as 50%. And the dial on this watch has condition issues that affect the collectible value significantly. What is the asking price?
