Yeah the combination of the racing dial and different colored sub dial hands make it stand out, but not in a good way. Too much going on. The moon texture to the dial is kinda neat though!
My first impression too. If we hadn't been primed for a lunar surface effect I'd have missed it completely. I just see screw heads, not craters. Our Baselworld 2018 Novelties. As in novelty tie?
I think Omega are definitely aiming this watch at a different demographic of watch buyers , its aimed at the young & trendy & I haven't been young for about 30 years ,& don't think I was ever trendy anyway. I think maybe my watch tastes may have changed, & perhaps I am now more into traditional / vintage styles .
Not my cup of tea (actually for this watch Monster Energy Drink is more appropriate)....more money to spend for the Apollo 11 50th LEs next year
This could look amazing in the metal (or ceramic). Great concept of using the 1861, though I think the execution was a bit overdone.
I know you jest...but this is quite typical of Omega, Do some more gaudy younger gen release in one year and then follow-up with something more traditional the following year...just look at previous Basel releases to see the pattern. I am actually now more hopeful of a truly outstanding Apollo 11 50th LE than I was before.
