Welcome. Introduction would be nice…

What research did you do yourself?

and yes: it is real

Ah sorry, I was rushing. Hey guys, I am just getting into watches, I have a few rados, and a Hamilton. I have done a small amount of research through this forum. I have seen some of the monstrous fakes, and I’ve seen some decent ones that would fool an untrained eye like mine. But thank you for your time!

The dial has some spots of tarnish, and the minute marks are worn. And the glass is also scratched up some.

It’s authentic but: The case is over polished and the dial, while not terrible, is unattractive for a gold watch. I’d be curious to see the movement because the dial staining has the look of moisture intrusion. Get it off that horrid bracelet as it’s grinding ant the inner lugs. Get it serviced. It might clean up a bit. Don’t try to clean the dial.

How about some context for the forum? Is this your watch? An inheritance? Something you are considering as a purchase? If so, in an auction or fixed price listing? Serviced? Not serviced? What type of seller? What is the asking price?

+1. This would be my assessment as well. Not the best example, but service the movement, polish the crystal and put it on a nice strap and you have a good dress watch or office daily wearer. As for what it's worth, the overpolished case and tarnished dial would be a no go for a collector, but you can check the sold prices of the same reference on eBay to get a rough idea of the value.

Considering buying the watch from a private seller, the asking price is $1,500. I feel like that is steep for that condition. Not been serviced since he’s owned it in 2009, but he said it is keeping time well. Is it worth buying and fixing it up? I’d definitely put a nice band on it and get it serviced and cleaned professionally. What would you all recommend?

The crown is IMO not original.....you/we need more and better pictures. Always, when ever you buy 😉
And : I doubt the 14kt. Or is the hallmark on the last picture confirmed? Some coutries had import-marks, so: watch out!

I'll personally look for another one. I agree with the replacement crown.

Not a $1,500 watch in my opinion, especially unserviced. And Fallout Boy is right that the crown is also not correct for the watch. I would continue to look for a better example.
