Just fished this one out of the 'Bay. It's something I've always wanted since I started collecting watches: The 24-hour complication is very cool. It snaps over just before 1 o'clock AM and PM. Case is in near mint condition, just a little bit of wear to the chrome plating near the crown. Bracelet is the original, not often seen with this watch. Only thing not original is the crown, which is already on order. Now a question to the audience -- should I wear it with the original band, or replace it with a leather band (keeping the original in a safe place, of course). Unlike a lot of these expandables, this one is not a hair-puller. In fact, it's quite comfortable. Looking forward to your comments. gatorcpa
I want to say cool, but the word has already been used about 15 times in this thread, so I'm going to defer to one of my kids, who says I should go with "BALLER!". Agree, baby tapir is the way to go.
I was looking at this thinking 'what a weird watch' then worked out what was going on on the dial - how brilliant is that? Want one.
I might get another one of my favorites, a Speidel Sport Calf in black: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006TK39R6...e=asn&creative=395109&creativeASIN=B006TK39R6 For now, I just want to get the crown replaced and get the time adjustment just right. Thanks all, gatorcpa
There is another variation on the same theme, the Day-Nite, using a similar caliber N510CA movement, Air Flight used the N510SS. I sold this one a few years ago.
I can see how the day night would work, it just jumps one hour sector, a simple rotation. How does the 24HR work, it would have to jump forwards then backwards wouldn't it? All three are excellent examples by the way.
Really nice watch. It wasn't mentioned on the favourite complications thread, and think is a very interesting one.
Oh now! These are neato! Both gatorcpa's and X350 XJR's. Never saw this complication before, but having been made aware of it, it makes sense as a marketing angle to sell watches. I am a big fan of straps over bracelets for everything, but I'd probably make the exception for an uncommonly found bracelet like the Gruen original. A plain ol Gruen with some variant of that 510 movement is on hand here. Good timekeeper.
