So you’re wealthy, your husband just died, and you want something cool to wear to the bingo hall. Rolex have the watch for you! A small watch, at a time when most women under 70 are sizing up to 34-40mm, this one really knocks it out of the retirement home.
It’s more ageist than sexist I just cant imagine anyone other than my grandmother wanting this and she passed away in her 80s. 28mm is just a bit too small for this whole pimped out treatment IMO and goes against the majority of the market for iced out watches’ demands. I can only see this selling in Hong Kong or Singapore really.
If it was any bigger it would need a lot more diamonds, and would then be too difficult for someone on a pension to afford.
then only in 1/2 of the global market? love it or leave it, this sort of cocktail watch is more a bracelet piece than a watch, and I would not be surprised to learn that Rolex based it’s existence on some market intelligence involving people very much unlike the OF crowd.
I quite like it, I just find it maybe a little bit too understated It's the kind of watch that will show up on Antiques Roadshow in 2091, found for €10 at 07.00 on a windy car-boot-sale-Sunday-morning....the seller had had it for an age, couldn't get shut of it, no-one was buying as they all thought it to be a fake....
Yup- already one buyer awaiting delivery named Melania. Gold and diamonds are fancy which means you’re rich.
You won’t be able to read the time on the 24mm dial, nor will you be able to set the time with arthritic fingers, but at least passing cars at night will be able to spot you off of the blinding diamonds reflecting headlights as you wander down the side of the highway with no pants.

Only easier job then head of design at Rolex men’s watches would be head of their women’s design section; “yeah umm what oh umm my turn, oh ok what they did umm shrink add diamonds umm can I goto lunch now....oh dang it’s still breakfast “
