    Hi All,
Just thought I'd post a FYI on the new 1171 / 633 Bracelet that is available from Omega with 2016 onwards production.

I've had a couple of them through now from Omega with incorrectly sized end links. The watches are typically ( Speedmasters and Seamasters )19.96mm to 19.98mm or thereabouts while these end links are 20.18 - to 20.20mm in width. This means the only way to get them to fit is to file them down. Which is of course less than ideal. There'll no doubt be a few people trying to force them on which will probably gouge the case too.

The bracelet comes as a set when you buy it from an Omega boutique or similar with the end links in the same packet.

I've written to Swatch to let them know but it's probably a given that if its batch related, the batch will be pretty big!

FWIW, it's the same for endlinks 575 for 1116 bracelet. I ordered a pair and when it arrived, I went over to have it fitted. Well, the Customer service Centre (Swatch group) guy came back and told me that they do not fit and recommended that I don't buy it. No filing down suggestions or anything.

Additionally, I also wanted the have the 1116 bracelet resized and was told and given a number to go to a non Swatch/Omega watchmaker to have them resized. I was frankly quite appalled and contemplated writing in to Omega to complain but did not as I figured they don't care about vintage as it does not bring them much moolah.

    Really bad experience.

I recently got one with my SpeedyTuesday. As I was aware of this issue (thanks again OF) I specifically told them about it (they did not know) and got them to fit it to my SpeedyTuesday for me (inhouse watchmaker) -> no scratches/gouges, and snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug ... no rattling, very tight ...

I had this same issue with my modern 1171.

I ended up using my wife's emory boards to shave down the links. Took about 15 minutes total.

Why not just make the tolerances tighter right out of the gate?

Because lugs are sometimes worn on vintage watches that these bracelets are often mounted to. Also, tighter tolerances means more money spent on production.

Just bought a 1171633 bracelet with this issue for my speedy. What would you suggest as a remedy?

Well, I bought a new 1171/633 in 2015 that fits my 145.022 and WatchCo SM300 just great. So I got in before the change. But this weekend I went to grab it and I can't find that sucker anywhere. I found my 42 year old 1171/633 in the safe (confirmed) fortunately.

Last time I saw it was when I took it off my my WatchCo SM300 and put the Omega shark mesh back on about two years ago. I have two zip-up pocket knife storage cases that work great to hold straps, where I have a small one with the original watch manufacture brand straps in the safe, and a big one with generic straps, and it's not with them - it's just gone ::rant:

Remember also that the 633’s were never intended to fit the early twisted lug Speedmaster 105.012 and first Seamaster 165.024’s they used the 16 end links which differ from the 516 end links that the 633’s replaced, although all 3 are nominally 20mm.

    Hi All

Just posted this on another thread also, but thought it might be relevant in here.

I have just bought a new, reproduced, 1171/663 bracelet on eBay (560USD), please see pictures below.
My question in here is: Is it original Omega or a replica??

The square and logo is laser etched on the buckle, and it has the number "70" in the circle on the buckle. Further, it does NOT say "Omega" under the triangle.

    What are your thoughts?

    Many thanks in advance.

If it doesn’t fit the watch and feels like it’s made out of recycled tin cans its pukka Omega.

In all seriousness that looks like a genuine modern Omega service item.

Looks correct to me, the laser etched clasp logo on the most recent ones is really disappointing(I also bought one just over a year ago and was much better than these latest ones). Inner clasp engraving is also correct.

My only reservation is that here in the UK at least the clasp part doesn't have that sticker on it and the entire bracelet is vacuum packed.

This is a bracelet I bought late last year directly from Omega. You can see that the Omega symbol on the clasp looks just like the one in question here. Note that the production date on the bracelet is the 20th week of 2018.

I didn't take a shot of the clasp underside, but IMO nothing on the bracelet being questioned looks off to me...
