Neiman Marcus at Tysons Galleria

I was in Tysons Galleria in Virginia to look at watches I can't afford and clothes I'll buy on Ebay for a fourth the price. I was walking out through Neiman Marcus on the way to the car, and stopped a second to look at their vast collection of Frank Muller watches because I am masochist. Lo and behold, I saw a handful of Rolexes and a few other brands, including Omega, for sale. Apparently, this store is the first to sell pre-owned watches. The interesting thing was what was available. A 1675 Rolex Pepsi and Root Beer, a 36 Rolex Day Date, 1680 Submariner, and a red Omega Schumacher. The salesperson said this was the first store selling pre-owned and they started selling a month ago. He was nice, but I was the one rattling off reference numbers since he had no clue. As an aside, IWC, Panerai, and Breitling are now at the mall.

Makes sense, but I think they may have missed the peak of the vintage craze.

Didn't ask too much , but $5000 for the Schumacher and $18,000 for the Root Beer.

People shopping at Neiman Marcus, and interested in those kinds of watches, aren't too concerned about the reasonability of the prices.

Interesting, but Barney’s NY was doing this at least 20 years ago. Of course, they went bankrupt years ago. I recall seeing an overpriced Flightmaster in their store in San Francisco circa 2006 or so.

Walking through Nordstrom in Tampa a month or so ago and there was a section that had Omegas, Rolex (Subs and Daytonas) and even a Patek
One of the Omegas was a Silver Snoopy. All were quite overpriced.

Yeah, I enjoyed strolling through there - they always had some nice stuff.

The earned their nickname Needless Markup, and strive every day to maintain the highest level possible. And there aren't a lot of dollar-conscious people in Tysons II unless they are there to eat at Maggiano's. So they will likely do well.
