I just read an article about an auction coming up in November of a bunch of Neil Armstrong’s personal memorabilia including stuff he took to the moon. The article doesn’t mention watches and I haven’t yet looked on the auction house website, but it sounds interesting..... here is the link to the article: https://abcnews.go.com/amp/Technolo...e-neil-armstrongs-collection-auction-56712871
Great find @donashby Here is a link to the auction site: https://www.ha.com/heritage-auction...trong-Collection-learnMore-auction6205-072018 Some of the lots already appear to be on the site.
What a fascinating man. Just to tour his collection of things would be a once in a lifetime thing. So much lore and legend.
Ha! I’m afraid we have seen the hay day of kidney values...Oh the good old days of blackouts and ice baths and hand written ransoms notes... Hahahahahah! I kid, I kid. Or I kid...ney, I kid...ney
Oops, sorry for the mess? Who created this image? I obviously would like to give the correct credit. It came out of an OF thread obviously. Any help is appreciated.
This would not be the place for such a high-ticket item as Armstrong's Speedmaster. And anyway, IIRC, it went "missing" upon his return from the moon.
None of the NASA owned Speedmasters are available for purchase legally as I understand it... they belong to the Nation of the United States, and are held/managed by the Smithsonian (with loans available to folks like Omega, and other museums). When a NASA owned radial dial came up for sale at Bonhams a few years ago, the FBI seized it through the US Embassy in London... so probably not wise to hand over money for something that's space flown and belonging to the US government, unless it has all the correct paperwork with it, saying that it's yours! It’s Buzz’s watch that’s “missing”
