    Hi

I have been offered this one, but i think the Price is a Little bit to the high side. So i would like to hear your opinion.

The sellers live far away and is not able to open it.

I have blured some of the engraving with name and occasion.

    Pro: i love the dial
Con: the engraving, could possible be removed.

The engraving states 1949 so it must from 1949 or earlier.

Diameter is 34,5 mm with out the Crown.

Do you have any idea if it is a 30mm. movement and maybe ref. nr. ?

Would you consider it interresting because of the dial or is it just another 1940's Omega?

    Thanks
    Thomas

In my view an engraving of this sort is part of the history of the watch. Why have you blurred it out? It might greatly add to our understanding of the piece. And yes, it should be a 30mm hand-wound movement.

I think the name and occasion is personal information and the Watch is not mine yet. But it is given from a political party for 50 years Work.

    Keep the engraving.

I always get a little sentimental when I see an engraved watch for sale. What circumstances lead to the original owner or owner's family discarding it? Sad in a way

I will properly keep the engraving, maybee et was a famous politician in that country, maybee a Prime Minister :)

The Price is 485 $ (it is in Europe, i think the US prices is quite lower than Europe) is more than i use to pay for a 30mm. Omega but i love the dial.

The nicest engraving on an Omega I have seen was a little while back, and it said "To Jack with love from Dearie". I very nearly bought the watch just because it was so touching . . .

Is that a Dennison case? If so, I would value it less than an Omega signed case, and even if the face look really good, I would regard it as a less attractive Omega 30 mm 40ies

They didn't. Omega sent movements to the UK after WWII, where they were cased by Dennison, and thereafter sold in the british market. Some of them was bought by swedish tourists (and other nationalities too for sure) and brought to Sweden. This one can be one of them

Dont make sense to my that a political organisation/party take to UK from Sweden in the 1940's to buy a Watch for 50 years anniversary, get it engraved take it back to Sweeden a give to a Swedish person, it would be a lot easier to go to a local Swedish watchmaker and buy it :) But if i buy it it will be checked.
