Need some help with my first Speedmaster

Hey guys I'm 28 live in NYC and have a few pieces in my collection already. I been looking to get a 3570.50 for some time now being I feel it's a must have in swatch collection. However I've seen the panda dial version and I'm in love with it. Correct me if I'm wrong but the panda dial was for the 35th anniversary and only 300 made? So any 3570.50 with a panda dial is just modification? Kinda lost with this watch so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Talk to Kringkily, George is a Speedmaster specialist dealer in NYC, can tell you everything about them and help you source whatever you're after

Seen a few panda dials transplanted on regular moonwatches - several are here. They're sharp!

The Apollo 11 pandas had 3500 made. Here is number 11/3500. There are a few other panda models too.

Mitsukoshi dial Japanese edition ( watch is not genuine Omega issue here)

Most of these seen are franken made watches. They are advertized as genuine dials and hand sets, but they are not genuine watches, that came from Omega that way. The real thing does turn up on eBay from time to time. Buyers should beware and check for proper paperwork

The dial without the Apollo 11 date on it is a very popular "mod". The one Steve shows is a xxxxxxxx Speedmaster,EDIT(< Thanks Al for catching wrong image insert, fixed now with true Mitsukoshi Dial, still franken>) but the same style of dial is available for the Speedmaster Pro. It is essentially what is shown on the Apollo watch, but no red date.

I put 2 of these together today...like I said a popular mod. The dial without the date is readily available.

Cheers, Al

One like this. Its a franken of my own making 😁

For me this was a cheaper way of getting a Panda dial Speedmaster with my own take on the watch I want plus I wouldnt do this to a genuine Apollo 11 or Japanese Mitsukoshi.

A good looking watch. Like the alpha hands here.

Thanks. I'm really happy with the hands, something different from the standard but still fitting in with the overall look of the Speedy dial

Sorry for the thread hijack 😉

Would I be burned at the stake for saying the modded Panda is one of the best looking Speedmasters? Especially with the alpha hands. The only correct modern Speedmaster I like more is the blue dial with the white subdials.

I know we have a lot of purists here (which is good!) but I completely agree with you. Alpha hands as well... Really nice touch!

Red on the dial is crack to a Rolex collector. Especially the world renown DOUBLE RED SEA DWELLER!
