hi everyone, I’ve always wanted to own an Omega Seamaster and this past Saturday I accomplished my goal at a flee market of all places. I’ve been looking everywhere but I can’t seem to find an exact similar model - I don’t have the tools to remove the back so I can’t date it yet. If anyone has any information I would be greateful. One thing I noticed is the crown isn’t signed but somewhere I read that some early models didn’t have this - and also the backplate does have a symbol but Somewhere I read this didn’t happen until the 60’s which makes me wonder if the crown or the back plate are not original to this timepiece.
    Thanks for your help

Hard to know what's going on with the dial. But my guess is that case is from sometime between 1961-63.

    did you try this line?

“Can I tie your shoes? I don’t want you falling for anyone else.”

99% of the time it works every time.

Often dials that got water-damaged - which happened a lot - were repainted. I think yours is original but in that condition it's hard to be sure.

To be brutally honest, the watch is not worth spending money on. Original or not, the dial is shot, there is severe loss to the gold cap, odds on the movement is in bad shape and the crown is wrong (they all had the Omega symbol at this date). If it works, best to just wear it as is and enjoy it while you decide whether you want one in better condition. The problem with cheap vintage watches is they are not any cheaper to service than expensive ones and frequently cost a lot more, so what seemed like a gift at first can become a liability. You would be lucky to get away with less than £150 for servicing an automatic like this by a competent vintage specialist, and that's for one without the issues yours has.

On the bright side, it is a real vintage Omega Seamaster. I would say from about 1958-1962 going by the S in Seamaster.

Open it. The serial on the mouvement will tell from which year it is.

Really appreciate your response - thanks so much for the info - it seems to keep time perfectly over a 24 hour period so I’ll take your advice and just wear it as is and be happy to own a vintage omega - cheers
