Need help with this watch

Is this watch worth restoring? Cannot find any model information on it. It was my mother-in-laws dad's watch. I only found it was from 1954 and is an Omega Seamaster Automatic with a bumper movement. Any additional info would be very much appreciated. I cannot find any Omega watches with this type of lugs. I know the band is garbage and need a period correct band to go with it.

Definitely worth fixing up, IMO. Legit watch in pretty good condition in a gold case. The watch was cased locally for the US market, instead of in Switzerland which accounts for the unusual shape.

Interesting case and lugs. Nice heirloom. I would get rid of the old Speidel band, it is wrong size anyway- add choose a nice leather strap for it.

Given the unusual hooded case in gold well over a grand, but restoring it won’t increase the value, it’ll just make it more wearable. In fact if you “restore” the dial by repainting it and “restore” the case by polishing it, the watch will be worth far less. If you plan on selling it, sell it as is, if you plan on wearing it, have it serviced (movement only) and wear it.

The plan was to get it serviced, cleaned, and replace the crystal. Repainting and polishing would damage the watch. IMO It probably has not been cleaned since it was made LOL.

Is there a name for that kind of bracelet? I don't think I've ever seen one like that.

Beautiful watch. Find a good watchmaker who won't damage the case, dial, or hands if you plan to get it serviced.

The bracelet is an old Spiedel replacement band. Not period correct but that is what it came with. Pretty sure it was not the original band. Any recommendations to replace it?

You have a bent lug. Make sure you take it to a qualified watchmaker. They can snap off very easily when trying to bend them back into place.
