Hey everyone,
Since this is my first post, I’ll introduce myself.
I‘m Max from Germany, 26 years old and completely new to vintage watches. Im fascinated by the old omega movements, and am looking to buy my first. Just dont want to make a mistake and accidentally buy a watch with a refinished dial or wrong movement or hands etc.
I hope you guys are kind enough to help me

found this watch online, the case back says 14391-61 and a 269 movement.
unfortunately the pictures are not the best quality, but this seller seems to be bad at taking pictures i think
I cant find anything helpful with the reference number in the case back...
Does this look good to you or is there something wrong?

thank you very much in advance
Max

Thank you very much for your answer.
I also see a difference in caliber as well as hour markers and hands...
The price is 499€, thought its okay considering its in a fairly good condition.
What do you think?

-Update-
Found a nearly identical watch on omega enthusiasts instagram, only difference is the hands and a raised dot at 6 o clock.

the case back says 121.001 so i checked the data base and found this, which looks identical except the 3 and 9 hour markers are thicker than the rest...

But the 14391 on the database also looks really similar, just different movement.

Still not sure if the watch is legit or if something has been changed

That raised dot at six is luminous, AKA lume, radium this case, material and is also at the tip of the hour markers as well as the hands. The first watch is a no lume version, either is correct.

Thanks for the explanation! I wasnt sure how to spot lume on the hour markers, now i know where its located 😀

So the first watch is the non-lume version, happy that its legit.

just confusing to me that they look almost identical apart from the lume, yet the reference number is completely different.

thanks for the help

Omega has upgraded, so to speak, their case/reference numbers over the years. The watch itself didn't change, necessarily, just the case number.

Hi all,

I'm resurrecting this thread because I recently acquired the same model (14391-61) and I'm hoping to match it with the correct steel crown (can't stand the faded unbranded one it came with).

If someone can can let me know what the part number for the correct steel crown is I would greatly appreciate it.

Many thanks,

John

if you email a parts supplier with the case reference number and calibre number. They will check and pick out the correct crown if still available and they have in stock.

always buy a new stem to make sure it matches with the crown

bear in mind that if the case is gold filled. New crowns are gold plated, so there will be a difference in the colour. If gold plated. Match should be ok.

Many thanks for the reply Don and good point on the stem. I'll definitely try getting in touch with a few suppliers. I'll also do the same sellers on ebay where I've seen some crowns that look similar to the one I'm after but they only mention the size and I have no clue what it should be.
