    Hi guys,

I'm new when in comes to watch collecting and vintage watch collecting. I found a watch that piqued my interest while browsing http://watchlim.blogspot.my/

Its an omega seamaster automatic black dial ref 166.002. I love how the watch looks however I do have some reservation about it.

I've been searching to find a similar watch with the same dial over the web but I couldn't find anything close to it when it comes to the dial and the hour markers just to make sure it isn't a fake or a franken watch.

I fear that the watch is a franken watch. In the description the seller mentioned it is an original dial however refurbished. Does this mean that the dial has been repainted?

From the serial number of the watch I can gather that the watch was produced in 1965 which bodes well with the timeline of caliber 562 however playing devil's advocate, wasn't the Caliber 565 released in 1965 and the caliber 565 was used to replace the caliber 562?

I'm hoping for some enlightenment from ye omega masters before I decide to purchase the watch. The seller is in my area so I can actually meet him up but before I decide on doing that I would like to authenticate the watch first.

    Opinions on the watch?

Anyways, keep up the great work guys. This is an amazing community

    Thanks

Very best thing you have done today is have reservations.

Over polished. "Refurbished" dial (in the popular black Ranchero theme).

    Movement looks a bit tired.

If you like it and it's CHEAP, then maybe, but if 'twas me I'd move along.

You have found the rare and elusive Omega POS. Notice the excessive corrosion on the inner caseback. The rotor rub. The multi-color movement (and more corrosion). The amazing (over) polish job. Finally, the dial............................

Your "reservations" are well founded. You have done well young Padiwon. Consulting the elders have saved you from certain doom (wasting your money).
