Hello all

I am quite out of my depth here and would like some advice. A very good friend of mine has decided to sell his grandfather’s gold Rolex oyster perpetual. While I have just enough vintage speedmaster knowledge to get me in trouble I pretty much know nothing about these watches. I should have it in hand Friday when I can bring it to European watch in Boston to get it opened and photographed but right now I have some external photos I’d like you guys to take a look at it and tell me what you can as far as condition and dial originality

Also while I appreciate all feedback please no “he should keep, it it’s an heirloom” type advice.
While I understand the sentiment, he’s using this money to seed a college fund for his two young boys so I find it completely worthwhile.

My friend knows less about watches that I do and only guesses at the age from the inscription of 1962. Both grandfather and father have passed so there’s no source of information.

Here are the pics. Thanks in advance.

Looks legit and nice. Late radium dial, so 62-ish is plausible. Really nice case.

Just some minor condition issues that wouldn't hold me back at the right price:
- minor blemishes on the dial (some of the spots may be on the crystal)
- hands and some markers may have been re-lumed (noticeably lighter in color)

Remove the strap and photograph the numbers between the lugs at 6 and 12 to get the serial number (for approximate date) and the reference number.

Thank you I’ll get those numbers

To be clear I’m not a buyer for this. I don’t like to mix business and friendship. I’m ultimately looking to price and/or broker it for him.
