Hello, First time poster and I need some help identifying a watch. It was my grandfather's, and I believe he bought it in the 50s or 60s, possibly earlier. I have been trying to find an example online but turned up with nothing helpful. The back case is fully rounded, no flat parts. It says 14k Gold filled. Attached is a picture of the front. There is also an Omega symbol on the crown.
The closest I have been able to find is a 1950 s 351 cal bumper seamaster but with different lugs than yours.
It is a manual wind for sure. No "Automatic" on the dial. Likely some form of 30mm caliber inside, maybe a cal. 285 or 286. From the style, I'd say early to mid 1950's. For any more information, you will need the case reference number from the inside of the case. Have a watchmaker do it and bring a camera. gatorcpa
Given it says 14k gold filled, it is almost certainly an American made case, made under licence from Omega, rather than made in Switzerland.
After reading gatorcpa's post and searching for 285 cal manual wind on the old internet several watches come up that are similar to yours with straight lugs. However the hands and dial are different in the ones I found on the internet It would seem that it is from the early 60s, 60/61. I don t think the bracelet is original though. You really need to take it to a watchmaker and find the case number, then it would be easier to find out what model it is.
Thanks for the help everyone! I know for sure that bracelet isn't original. I'm going to try to take it to a local jeweler who has a full time Master Watchmaker on staff to open it up and see what he says. Thanks again!
