Need Help Identifying Originality of Vintage Omega F6212

Hello everyone,
I recently acquired what I believe is a vintage Omega F6212 and would appreciate the community’s help in evaluating its authenticity and originality. I’ve attached photos of the watch, including the dial, case back, and any other relevant details.
I have a few questions:

1) Does the dial appear to be original, or has it been refinished or replaced?
2) Could this be a Frankenstein watch assembled from parts from different Omega watches?
3) The case back number below the reference has a letter “W” before the 6 digit number. Does anyone know what this “W” and what that number is signifies?
4) Based on the serial number, I believe the watch may have been produced around 1950. Is that correct, or am I mistaken?

I’d be grateful for any information or opinions from those with experience in vintage Omega watches. Thank you in advance for taking the time to help.

The W represents the US based case maker. Wadsworth from memory. Yes it has been redialled. No it’s not obv a Franken though the redial is enough to put a collector off. The serial does suggest it was made around 1950.

Thank you —sadly, the redial ruined it for me. Do you think sticking on to it is worthwhile if I secured it for under 500 usd?

Well you presumably didn’t realise it was a redial if you had to ask so maybe you should just live with it and enjoy it for what it is. I’ve seen a lot worse. I wouldn’t pay $500 for it no, and you’ll struggle to sell it to a knowledgable collector at any price but did you buy it to resell or wear?

Yes, I did not realize that it was a repainted dial and I bought the watch to wear it , as I really liked it.

And now you don’t? Well if you feel that way and can get out of it with your money back then maybe you should do so but perhaps either do your research before buying next time or at least ask here first. Or keep it and put it down to noob tax. We’ve all been there.

Thanks for the recommendation—I’ll attempt to request a return from the seller; otherwise, I lack alternatives. I’ll certainly ask here prior to any purchase next time.
