Need Help Identifying Correct Brush Finish on Omega Speedmaster MIII (Photos Attached)

Hi everyone,

I’m about to purchase an Omega Speedmaster MIII, but I’d really appreciate some help before I move forward.

The case has a brushed finish, but I’m not completely sure whether the brushing pattern matches the original finish of this model. On the watch I’m considering, the brushing runs horizontally, but I’ve seen the same model elsewhere with vertical brushing.

Before I buy it, I want to confirm:
Which brushing direction is correct/original for this model?
Did Omega produce this reference with different brushing patterns, or does this look like a refinish?

Any guidance or reference photos from verified originals would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome @TimepieceLearner
Your photos are blurry cant see the case finish details.

There are many threads on OF discussing MIII, including this one:

If you use OF Advanced Search (cllick on down arrow to the right of FORUMS) choose "Search threads", put Omega Mark III in keywords, scroll down and in Search in Forums box choose "Vintage Omega Watches help....." then click search- and lots of info pops up.

I think you will find that either horizontal or sunburst can be considered correct, but it seems complicated and Im not expert on this and nobody can really give you an opinion without better photos.

Good luck

I think the answer is both horizontal and vertical. A refinish that is not for the amateur.
