I would like to get this watch serviced, not sure what model it is, I’m assuming that information is on the inside of the watch. I’m attaching some photos of the watch, let me know if I should attach some better quality photos. Thanks.

It’s a beauty. Find a watchmaker who’s services vintage and ask him to open it for you. Snap pics of the movement and inside case back. Very much worth servicing. I assume you are related to the man in the inscription. Also very cool.

Yes, he’s a great uncle. I’m guessing it has some gold on the casing ? But all of that should be on the inside ?
I live in a small town, will look at the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, what price should it be for the service ?
Thanks.

Did your great uncle spend his career at the General Motors Arlington, Texas assembly plant?

If its Gold, which I doubt , there will be small stamps at the back of the Lugs. Have a very close look.

Ah. It was just a guess, originating from your allusion that you live near Dallas and Fort Worth.

I’m originally from Michigan, but lived in Texas many years now

Looks like an American market watch, quite likely 14K gold. Appears to be in lovely condition.

Why would you doubt it? Presentation watched like this were traditionally solid gold. It would be a cheapskate employer who gave a plated long service watch. They would also be trickier to inscribe if only plated.

It’s presumably a Norman Morris US case so identifying it might be trickier than with a Swiss case even when opened. There may be no external purity marks or it might say something on the case between the lugs.

The bracelet is pretty nasty and not original IMO but the rest is lovely.

Pontiac? The inscription says Pontiac Motor Division and a quick Google brings up that they were based in Pontiac, Michigan. Lovely watch BTW.

Agree 100% … get this on a nice strap! Like shell cordovan or a stitched mat finish leather.

A lot of hate for this band 😂. My father had it for about 50 years and he never wore it that I know of. On the back side of the band it says Flex-Let and “1 1/20 10kt GF Top 53 stainless back”.

I think the hate for the band is largely because it's 10k gold leaf (and that design!). It's completely period appropriate in a lot of ways, but it's the equivalent of your grandma's crystal bowl of wrapped strawberry candies and loose dinner mints. Unmistakably nostalgic yes, but uh... perhaps with a unique mix of appreciation and mockery simultaneously.

It’s such an amazing dress watch and that bracelet is just way over the top. The watch will be more versatile in a high quality leather strap. Personally I’d dress it down so no shiny leather.

Not sure what the original band was like, main thing is need to find a reputable watch maker to service it.

it's not just that people don't like the style, that type of bracelet will often damage the inside of the lugs, especially if the case is solid gold

Here it is, on the right:

Looks like a U.S. made gold filled case.

Not sure what movement is in there though.
