I have a dilemma and I can’t quite decide, so I need the help of the good members of OF. As you can see I have an empty spot in the watch box and that is just wrong, no matter how you look at it.

The two watches I’m debating between are the Rolex BLNR (Batman) and Omega Speedmaster 60th Anniversary. I went and had a look at both watches in the flesh last weekend and boy the 60th Anniversary blew me away.

I know, that should be the end of the story but the problem is the Omega was the trilogy set and I’m not fond at all of the other two watches in the set. EuropeanWatchCo had 3 60th Anniversary’s in stock last week but they are now sold. I did like the Rolex BLNR when I tried it on, so I could definitely live with either watch.

Now do I get the Omega which is a beauty? But I already have a few Speedmasters and I kinda wanted to add a little something different to the box. Also not sure how hard it would be to source one, especially at a reasonable price. Or should it be the Rolex because I currently don’t have one and I feel every watch box should at least one?

    What say you OF?

You should definitely buy another Speedmaster. After all, of the 11 watches you own, only 7 of them are Speedies, which is an unacceptable ratio since it's below 2/3 (currently 63.6%). If you get the 8th, you'll meet the minimum requirements.

Even with that July 1969 wrist calendar... Looks like the Chevy "It's truck time!" calendar.

I think the GMT is a great additional option... but I am not a fan of the modern cases, or much else about the modern GMT's. I would take a 16710 or 16700 every day of the week, personally. BUT... you don't have a straight lug speedy.

I had the same thought, but you expressed it much more quantitatively. :)

I would suggest a Planet Ocean for balance.

    And weight.

I think some colors might be nice. If it's Rolex then GMT. If it's Speedmaster then racing dial like Tintin or Japan 3570.40.

Blasphemy! He already owns a blue dialed Bremont, so why would he deviate from black & white? It saves him money shooting pictures!

I think that getting to a point where you know what you like & collect that is pretty cool. I don't like the idea of ticking boxes in collecting, such as I need a dive watch, a dress watch, a vintage watch, etc...
If he loves the 60th, why not get that ?
I had the BLNR for a WE and I didn't like it that much, the super case ruins it for me.

I recently sold my Ed White but was also thinking the 60th could fill that straight lug spot.

You need a diver... or something fun colored. A Kermit would look great next to that exotic dial...

Not a fan of the Kermit or the color green except for greenbacks.

Roll with the Venice Seamaster LE to make up for the lack of precious metal in that paddock full of sheepmasters

Can't help you there - but you have a lovely collection of watches. Nice ;)

As much as I love Speedmasters, a Rolex would be a great addition to your collection. Can't go wrong with a Batman or a GMT.

Sell off everything you have that isn't a speedy and replace with speedies.
