So my father passed away and I have his watch now. I understand that most likely is an original 1968 Omega Speedmaster Professional Ultraman Watch. It is missing the bezel and bracelet part but it's not been touched. He didn't even know what he had was valuable. I need to find someone, a professional luxury watch person who can open the back so that I can get the required photographs of the inside seriel number etc. to send off to authenticate it from archives. I'm in coastal NC. Raleigh NC area I could get to. Any recommendations?

From what I can see, it’s looking promising, but we need to see focused photographs particularly of the tip of the orange hand and see whether it reaches to the end of the minute track.

Next thing is to open the Watch and give us the serial number. Just find an independent watchmaker who could take back off for you and take some photographs.Just find an independent watchmaker who could take back off for you and take some photographs.I would be surprised if you get any joy from Omega.

The knowledge and experience is all here on the forums

At the moment, Omega is not providing archival extracts. If this is an original Ultraman, hold onto it. Now is not a good time to sell "important" vintage Omega Speedys.

OK Thank you for advice. I'll get the identification done by a watch/Omega expert done. I may not be able to enjoy this but I'm sure someone will. It would be a shame to not get it back to it's glory officially. I remember my dad wearing it all the time when I was little.

If you are selling dont do anything to it sell as is.
And watch out for scammers.

To open the case with no risk of scratches, try the go-to of a golfball-sized lump of duct tape (sticky side out) with press-and-turn... good luck!

Wonderful heirloom. I think if my dad would have left me his favorite watch I would hold on to it for future generations

No. But I have tons of old photo albums that I could most likely get a photograph of him wearing it in 1968 or 1969......hopeful.
