Need advice on purchasing

Hi All,

I am looking to buy my husband his first Omega watch. Unfortunately, we currently can't afford a brand new one, so I am looking for a used watch in excellent condition.

I would love to hear your opinion about buying the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Master Coaxial 41mm 220.12.41.21.02.001 (papers included) with two additional rubber wrist bands (blue+gray) at 3900$.

What should I consider before making the purchase? How do I know if it's a reasonable price?

If all straps and deployants are OEM, I would say it is a good deal. Best way to check if the clasps are real if there is a hole on top of the Omega logo as pictured below. Otherwise, I would add $400 or so and buy from an authorized dealer which can be easily negotiated. Just my .02

EDIT: Just reviewed the picture provided again. The black rubber strap has black stitching which is not an option from the factory.

Beautiful! Love the band!

Thanks. That feature attracted me to this watch, matching second hand and stitching that is. I say pass on the used one and but a new one with 5 year warranty for $4300 or better. Put on a card with zero interest financing for one year, problem solved 😀

I then I purchased this good quality leather strap for $35.. calfskin and all at a reasonable price.

To mention, my wife uses it almost everyday. She has two Cartiers that she seems to forget about (Santos and Ballon Bleu). So it's a win win for you 😀 Good luck!

Also for your reference, the original rubber and clasp set is almost $1000 when purchased new. My guesstimate is that the straps included are the cheap fake ones.

Really?? Where do I get a new one for 4300$?
Wasn't sure from your previous post, are you selling yours?
I would definitely prefer to buy a new one at that price.

Also, definitely planning on stealing it
And you're right, turns out the straps are a fake.

At my local AD even less pre-tax. PM me if you want details 😀

Come on folks! It took me 5 seconds with a Google search to find the watch new from numerous sources for under $4500. Here's a hint: Jomashop.

Another idea: I just got a new credit card from Wells Fargo. After spending $1000 (easy to do buying a new Omega) I'll get $200 back (credit) plus zero percent financing for a year or 18 months (I can't remember). Plus 2% back on all purchases. So that will cover some of the taxes. Not a plug for Wells Fargo, as there are a lot of other deals out there, probably some are better.

The obvious advantages of buying new include less chance of it being fake, no scratches, some kind of warranty (Joma voids the Omega warranty but they'll cover it themselves for the same time period) and of course, that great new watch smell. 😀

I've seen that watch on Jomashop. Considered it but just some of the reviews have scared me off. I'm sure they have a lot of happy customers though.
Can't beat that AD warranty though. Actually, most of their negative reviews are tied to 1) avoiding warranty work and 2) not being communicative during a transaction.
I can't speak from experience but just my 2 cents after researching them. Open to hearing feedback and personal experiences with them.

Agree.
How do you feel about buying from eBay? (including paperwork and warranty card)

I'd be OK with that under the right circumstances. I have trust issues when it comes to giving people I don't know thousands of dollars. Two things up front- The seller must have great reviews and references and they must be willing to answer the phone. I don't need to talk to them every 5 minutes but I need to know there's someone I can call for an update.
I also have a Rolex I'm looking to trade. Don't really want to send that off to a stranger.

I wouldn't recommend Ebay to someone that isn't knowledgeable (about watches AND ebay) for such a valuable watch.

Agree with the above.
Calling ppl that you are dealing with for updates on ebay is not really a thing in my experience, but as a seller I am very conscientious with updates, YMMV.
For the level of CS you seem to be more comfortable with, a dealer or shop of some kind seems like a better bet.

I've seen that watch on Jomashop. . . . Open to hearing feedback and personal experiences with them.

I've bought two watches from Joma. One required repairs, twice, both times they did it without protest. Although of course, I'd have preferred that they fixed it the first time... but they made it right, eventually. Well, I think the watch is dead now, so maybe not. But it wasn't a premier watch, like an Omega, and heck, it may just be a dead battery. Wife's watch.

And I definitely would not recommend Jomashop to anyone...
