Need advice on Constellation 14393

Hi all, I need your opinion on this. I got 2 offers on Constelltion 14393 from 2 different guys. They have similar silver dials without lume (Seems like those are from Japan market). The problem is they seems to fail MOY test (vertical line touch letter “L” in Constellation) but maybe there are exceptions. So I need your opinion to make decision. And sorry for the low quality photos, those are all I have. Thank you in advance
1st one

2nd one

The MOY test is hard to pass if there is no Y 😀

The dials are fine. Buy the second one if the price is fair. Decagonal crowns can be had with some $$.

The 1 st one too, I feel most of the blemishes are on the crystal than the dial. If the price is sweet I would take a gamble on it.

I think the 1st one has some blistering on the dial. The 2nd one gets my vote.

Both dial look legit, but I don't like the condition of the first one.

I think the dial on the first one will be an issue. Some marks are clearly on the crystal but not all imo.

Thank you all for your advice!! Since they are both legit, I took them all. I just received the 2nd one. To my surprise, the dial is not silver but metallic grey instead. The case is in very good condition, no dents or dings. Otherwise, the movement is rusty and need a full service. But it is running and nothing is broken, I assume. This is the first time I see a gray dial like this. Do you think it is original?!

Looks a sunburst pattern silver(steel) dial to me👍🏻 looks legit. I am glad you took the 1st one too. Want to see how she turns out. Yes she has a few blisters but on the whole should clean up well. I hope the price paid would have been on par with the apparent condition.

I mean the dial is really dark grey. I took a new photo with a pearl white dial and a white bill paper for you to compare the color (photo taken by iphone 16 so it has been “auto enhanced” by the phone’s software, a really annoying feature). In fact the crosshair dial is 120usd more expensive (at 660usd) than this one. I just replaced the crown to scallop style and it looks good. Gonna get a full service soon.

I've never seen an example like this either, so it makes me say not original. In the new photos, the area surrounding the star also gives me pause. If it were me, I'd be trying to make a return based on the item not being as described -- the original photo makes the dial appear white when it is not.

yes but the area surrounding the star also has a star shape and it nearly invisible to naked eyes, you saw that clearly in the photo because of the "auto enhance" effect that I mentioned above. Plus, all the star, hour markers, hands and applied OMEGA logo have corrosion as you can see in the photo (also the movement has a lot of rust). So this dial couldn't be new. Today I will take it to a watchmaker to check the edge and the back of the dial.

Well, @stormysky10 you are totally right. It is a redial. The case and movement are ok but the dial has been refinished. Now it’s a project watch until I find an original dial

Those hour markers and star are glued to the dial. The dial has been grinded too much that it’s so thin. Return is not an option so I should consider this a lession. And one more thing that I learned that if hour markers are glued to the dial, they are not 100% attached to a slight domed dial so you should ask for a photo at tilt angle to verify them in this case.

Well, the 1st one has arrived. Champagne dial but it is worse than I thought. A lot has to be done. A failed purchase this time I guess. But at least Level 200 unlocked 😁

That’s unfortunate, but congrats on the 200! Clawing my way up…
