So sorry for another goofy post . How would you compare a Blancpain Bathyscape vs a Grand Seiko SBGK015 . I know they are too different pieces one a diver / one a dress watch , and I’m really looking honestly to trade up to a Rolex eventually.

If you really want a Rolex, why are you bothering with Blancpain and Grand Seiko?

Of the many ways to attain a Rolex watch, legal and otherwise, this has got to be the most cumbersome way to do it.

I like trading . You cannot just walk in and get one at retail !! Or deal with so called grey market dealers who charge way too much .

You’re going to have a really hard time getting a fair trade on a Blancpain or Grand Seiko for a Rolex eventually, they’re both going to lose a lot of value and not attract much demand when you go to unload.

And personally I believe that both watches are better than the Rolex , but my dad at 78 wants a sub . He had one in Vietnam in 68 when I was born .

Just buy a Rolex. If you put your name on the waiting list you have plenty of time to save before they call you.

A SEIKO better than a Rolex! I wouldn’t grace an assertion like that with a comment!

My advice, since you asked, would be to consult with the members of the Rolex Forums. My impression is that they might be more sympathetic to your approach than the members here. A quick tally of the most recent 100 posts on both sites: 40% of Rolex Forums are "for sale" posts, but only 19% of Omega Forums posts are "for sale" posts.

Trading your way up to a Rolex will cost you more money.

Your plan is not viable. You will not make a profit off the two watches you listed. You’ll take a large hit with every transaction. You need to rethink your approach.

People on these forums are so simple minded .
Yes, if we want a Rolex, we buy a Rolex. Simple.

For someone who came here “needing advice”, you sure have started off on the wrong foot! Sounds to me as though you already have all the answers, so it is very unlikely we’ll be able to help!

As always a useless conversation here . Like a one way street ..

People on these forums are so simple minded . That’s brain cell power
What’s simpler:

A) Work, save and buy the Rolex
B) Buy two unnecessary intermediary watches that will lose 40% of their value at each transaction in the hopes of trading up for the Rolex, only to be left off with a giant hole in the ground (and no Rolex)

My simple-minded brain will choose the simpler option, option A
