Need a Recommendation: Seiko BellMatic Service (US)

Not offended. My point was just that viewing YouTube videos is not necessarily a useful way to find a good watchmaker, some of them are good (e.g. Spencer Klein) and some are hacks. Moreover, YouTube watch repair videos are totally separate from the firsthand recommendations made in this thread, and I don't know why you would assume any connection.

If you want to send your watch to one of the watchmakers recommended above, contact them directly.

Nobody assumed anything. All I did was ask a question.

The ones that seemed to know what they’re doing on Bellmatics that I saw on YouTube all seemed like they don’t feel like working on them anymore or whatever and I didn’t know if the ones recommended in this post still worked on them either as the post was a few years old, so was asking for recommendations of people that DO work on them right now in case anyone here had had any work done recently. I think I explained all this in my previous post. Calm down. Geez. Wow.

Ok, you know what — let’s go through every alleged “recommendation” in this post so you can see EXACTLY why I posted what I did in my initial post in this thread:

First post in thread: “US location preferred” (SAME WITH ME AS I AM IN THE US!)

2nd post: Seiko service center (others have advised they don’t trust any Seiko service centers)

3rd post: “Watch Bloke in UK” (NOT IN US!)

4th post: “Hub City Vintage” (Couple of posts afterwards (7th post) states not accepting work)

5th post: YOUR recommendation, Adrian Sellick — NOT IN US.

6th post: Just a statement. No recommendations.

7th post: Hub City Vintage not accepting new work.

8th post: Another statement: No recommendations.

9th post: Self-recommendation from “789” (“Rodney”) — not recommended by someone else.

10th post: Recommended hub city vintage again after another stated they don’t accept new work.

11th post: OP confirms again hub city vintage not accepting new work.

12th post: OP told 789 he replied. (Not a recommendation)

13th post: Another statement from someone else with no recommendations made.

14th post: Another statement from someone else with no recommendations made.

15th post: Post from 789 asking previous poster if he has parts. No recommendations made.

16th post: More conversation between those two about parts — no recommendations made.

17th post: MINE, hence the request for competent people that will CURRENTLY accept work on Bellmatics right now and in the US as that is where I am located.

Yeah, you can make demands, but you can't always get what you want. I typically send my Seikos (and I have plenty of them) to Canada or Australia. Doesn't particularly add to the expense or time involved in the service/repair.

Not so much that as the untrustworthiness of the USPS of late. Have had many international packages go “missing” (stolen) while in transit the past few years and have read it’s happening to others with increasing frequency also.

Have also had domestic packages stolen by USPS recently and enough for it to be a problem, so looking for US craftsmen so I can send insured by UPS. UPS and Fedex while safe(r) international options do come with a lot more complications and a LOT more expense. (Customs issues/thievery, “brokerage fees”, etc.) which shouldn’t apply for servicing a watch, but they always seem to apply them anyway.

Make sense now??

Take it easy. You're misreading the situation and attempting to insult a well respected watch collector and expert here, who has probably sent more Seiko watches for service than I've seen in my lifetime, and who has offered you an additional recommendation. Take your own advice and calm down.

🍿

Good luck getting anyone to help you. You’re the only one in this thread that needs to calm down.

I’m not the one calling people asking politely-phrased questions “crazy”, so…..yeah.

There is a slight risk sending a watch outside of the US, but even inside the US the risk is there (probably more so from what I've seen).

I recently serviced a Seiko for someone in New Jersey. USPS to me in Australia and Australia Post back to him.
No issues whatsoever.

Broaden your horizons young man.

These guys have done work for me as well as a few other OFers.

Highly recommend.
+ 1 to this. I don’t live local to them anymore but have happily shipped them my Seiko. Incredibly friendly and enjoy talking watches. Was super pleased with my experiences 👍
