One of the denizens of our swimming pool. This little guy is about 2.5 inches in length from nose to butt.
At this size, they come and go from the pool with ease. Much smaller than this and they can’t exit the pool once they get in, and they die after a few days. By the end of summer they grow quite large.
Adolescent frog rescue has become a daily part of our pool experience.
It is interesting that these frogs are quite happy to be handled. They are content to sit on one’s hand or shoulder for extended periods of time while one moves around the pool, as if their human host was a tour boat.
I have no idea where these frogs hole-up in the fall, but they are back every spring and summer.
