On vacation at my favorite spot, snorkeling in 40’ and 3 dolphins swim right up to me, check me out, circle me once and swim away.
I scream to my bride and when I look back down, 4 more swim right by.
Lifetime experience and worst photo you will ever see.
Slightly better shot note my white hair

I was at the Refuge today and caught this woodpecker in flight. Sadly he landed on the other side of the tree, and then went up higher into the branches where I couldn't get a good shot of him.

I also encountered this buffalo. Unlike the woodpecker, he was much more cooperative for photos.

Mølen in Norway. A stony beach left by the retreting glaciers. The mounds are bronze age burial sites.

I got home late yesterday to be told our female cat had brought a live mouse in…. As it was a kidnap victim and not a home invader there was no wish to harm it and as we don’t get mice I no longer have any traps. I rigged up a quick Heath Robinson solution…. And it worked after 20mins…. The little guy is back in the wild to annoy someone else and hopefully after a particularly bad day won’t get in more trouble for a while. At least it had a cheese and chicken nibble out of it when it took the bait ;0).

Not a great picture - taken on my phone, walking back from the local shop.

This Sparrow Hawk (and pigeon) crash landed in front of me about 15-20 feet away - flopped into the pathway right in front of me. So stood very still and watched.

Quite shocking - never really thought about how birds of prey eat their prey - whilst their prey is still alive it seems.

I have seen enough wildlife stuff on TV, but still quite shocked to see it happening..

On a gentler note - walk through the lanes the other day - Daffodils and fog.

After what has been a particularly wild and miserable winter spring is starting to show itself in the garden 🥰
