My succulent bed is doing alright. Started these about 6 years ago from a handful of clippings from a friend's yard. The more you ignore them, the more they love it.

A photo of me and “Lightning” in falconry class. The thrill of working with these raptors, which never become tame but develop a temporary working relationship with their falconers and are ultimately released back into the wild, is hard to describe. They are all business and are highly evolved and efficient predators. My apologies for the poor photo as I don’t have the original and I tried my best to photograph the framed photo with my iPhone.

If I was wearing my Speedy, it would be on my ungloved arm and well away from the bird. The talons on these guys are like razors. They land without fail on the glove every time, but I often wonder how many stitches I would be getting at the ER if they didn't. Anyone who thinks that apex predators are confined to land and sea hasn't handled one of these birds.

Looks like like a heron to me.
I thought so too but it's an escaped zoo bird. There's a black one in that park too. Herons have longer snouts i believe. [ I Mean beak not snout

I would say that it is a ordinary heron ( it still could come from a zoo though ) maybe the black one is a cormorant.

Regards Per.

Rain has stopped and the squirrels have taken a geometric approach to the food search.
