I was watching this live and had a double take, luckily someone else caught it and took a snapshot, here鈥檚 another angle 馃槵 Moonwatch is back on the Menu my dudes 馃ぃ

Swatch is going to make a killing with the earth rise moons watches

Little bit of a rant:

Talking with the sales guy yesterday, one of the first things I mentioned was the Artemis Moon Mission which is currently happening, the pics coming back, etc. His reply was "oh yeah, saw a couple of the pics but haven't been keeping up with it."

Was thinking to myself: You work at Omega with the Speedmaster being the Moonwatch. Probably can't use the employee restroom (WC) without Speedmaster TP. It's everywhere around you.

There are four people currently in space following the same Apollo 8 mission route sending back photos of the moon not seen in 50+ years.

The Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8 ceramic commerative Speedmaster sitting in the case right next to you which I asked to try on.

A little effort to inform yourself goes a long way for the experience. Granted with the new Constellations release, have all those talking points to in their noodles doesn't help.

Know the sales guy was young and newer to the game, but Omega dropped the ball of not having a quick hit packet of the mission, key points, and general discussion points for their sales associates."

Over the years, I have talked to plenty of knowledge reps and space enthusiasts which love talking about it, but come on. This is what you're known for and marketing is built around.

End rant.

Agree. I don't have the Apollo 8(yet) but I've been wearing my Snoopy 50 which has pretty much the same flight path as Artemis II embossed in the strap.

I understand your thinking, but this might be a bit tough on Omega. Consider that NASA hasn't been great about promoting Artemis. I did not support the Gateway or mission to Mars, which NASA was pushing hard. I don't think that captured the public's imagination because it was a little sketch.

However, the new administrator has turned it around. The plan for more frequent missions and a focus on the moon will likely get more attention from the public. And this Artemis II crew is a joy to watch. They have a childlike joy about them. Just the best of what exploration represents.

So hopefully the young sales rep and people everywhere will be more tuned in as the missions progress.

I personally think omega is personally playing it safe until the mission is successful and they land on Friday, assuming things don鈥檛 go pear shaped between now and then.

But you are right though, nasa is keeping it coy with Artemis, we have been getting subtle hints about branding, like sailor moon (Artemis cat plushie in the control room), omega, breitling, etc but nothing over the top

I鈥檓 personally happy we got some beautiful shots from the moon/earth, I literally downloaded all of them from
The nasa website.

I am curious though if the astronauts bought their watches or did omega/breitling gave it to them?

If this photo from the ISS is an indication, NASA doesn't mess around when it comes to cameras. Look at all the gear in the background

Kind of surprised to see the Manfrotto plates vs Arca Swiss. Those Nikons are also useful as hammers if needed.

39% tariff on the Swiss, 15% for the Italians, NASA probably just maximising their budget

I was wondering about this myself. From what I've seen so far, at least two crew members are wearing Breitling Navitimer Cosmonautes with 24hr dials, in addition to the issued Omega X-33. I went and looked it up on the Breitling website:

Looking at the price, I went "Holy crap"! Either Breitling have given these to the crew or NASA are paying their astronauts well!

Fantastic pictures of the Moon and the little blue ball called Earth. Stunning to see all the craters in that definision.

Sadly my next thought was "I wonder how the flat earthers are going to explain away this". Poore things, not being able to apreciate theese fantastic acivements without a "NASA conspiracy". You know the one were they never left Pinewood studios, the reason NASA may use a sub-par non lawn mower safe watch on their missions.

Damn, forgot all about the flat earthers. They must be going through an existential crisis of epic proportions through this whole ordeal. They're probably trying to scream in the abyss going "why don't you answer me?"

Thanks for the laugh!

@DoctorEvil that's the white Gold / Platinum limited edition, only 50 made

@eldiano84 Well Omega didn't play it safe in 1968 (Apollo 8) and 1981 (STS-1)
In 1968, each press folder came with a cardboard mission events "calculator" so we could follow all important milestones of the missions and in early 1981 we all got dozens of these Omega stickers:
Omega Speedmaster Professional. Now in the Space Shuttle.

Watching the live stream of the re-entry of Artemis spacecraft/crew. They'll be hitting the atmosphere around 6:53 pm cst, at 34,882ft/sec at an altitude of 400,000 ft. Six minute blackout period duration, Max speed of 24,661 mph.

Splashdown should be around 7:07 pm CST if all goes according to plan. God Speed!

Great to see Integrity touching down safely. Regarding the watches of Artemis 2, here's a great little video about it:

According to the video, the Breitling Cosmonautes worn by the astronauts look like a reference that currently isn't found in their catalogue. Given that Watches and Wonders starts soon, it could be a new release that's timed to coincide with Artemis 2. But as this is not an official collaboration between NASA and Breitling, the astronauts can't say too much about it.

For those who have enjoyed the view of the moon I would really recommend getting a good quality visual telescope. You will be very surprised how close you can get to these views from your own garden!
