Just to prove to you that I am not only a watch geek, but a complete geek in all ways I have decided to share something with you that annoys my wife and daughter to no end. There is a certain rock and roll favorite that the local 60's to 80's classic rock station plays. I am going to give you the words as I sing them and let's see if someone can recognize the song. I am hoping the next time you hear it, these words are stuck in your head too. LOL

Standin' in the street, staring through the glass,
Couldn't raise the money, he's flat out of cash.
The white dial on the watch, had aged to cream.
Put his head in his hand, It was a vintage dream.

He saw one nice watch, took his breath away,
Made him weak in the knees and the very next day,
Bought a beat up Longines, in a second hand store.
Didn't know how to set it, but knew he wanted more.

That one Longines.....looked good on his wrist.
    Didn't take long...to understand
Just one Longines...at the base of his hand
    Wouldn't be enough....now he needs a Hamilton

    So, he just started buyin'...
    Ain't never gonna stop.
    Gotta keep on buyin'....
Omega, Zenith, Rolex ...Just won't stop.

And be a watch collector hero
    Got Longines on his wrist
    He's a watch collector hero...
    Took one Longines....

    Watches twinkle in his eyes...........

I think you guys get the idea and probably feel bad for my girls now. Thank you for letting me post this fluff. I hope you enjoy it and here is the obligatory picture of the inspiration for the song....my own "beat up Longines."

No, sorry, but if you can make those words work to that tune and annoy your friends and loved ones when that plays....belt it out at the top of your lungs. :D

The clue or give a way is mentioned twice actually in the last full four line stanza. I thought for sure that would give it away in a heartbeat.

Sounds like something a domestic band would put out, yet somehow it feels like the first time

YES!!! But, I believe abrod520 got it before you, but left it for others to still play. Thank you all for reading and playing, I hope you had fun and now that you know the song, go back and read the "Longines" lyrics while the music plays in your head and see how I did.

I did...I like to do that also but my lyrics end up being about how much the kid smells or how the wife snorts when she laughs ;)

I've done something similar to that, winding up Mrs. E by singing daft words to well-known tunes. The doctors are very pleased with my progress and say that in a few months the scars will hardly notice.
