I have been told by one supplier ,JulesBorel, that they will be getting future endlinks
from Bestfit® .
Why? Simple, Omega will no longer sell any parts to the big watch parts suppliers.
BTW, I bought the last two sets of Omega number 6 end links they had in stock 😁
If you ask me, your direct seller is responsible for ensuring the endlinks are genuine. It may be true that it was his supplier's fault and he knew nothing about it but since he has acknowledged that they repro, he is ultimately responsible.
That's not a small amount of money we are talking about, he should give a full refund.
Cheers Mike 👍. I know that of course, but a year has passed, he says there is no contact with his seller, yada yada. I have moved on, and I won't be going back.
There’s actually two strikes with the end links and then the relumed hands. Never forget rule #1 - buy the seller
This wasn't a sale from a F.S thread on this forum.
It was done personally between myself and the seller via whatsapp. After speaking with each other about watches, dials, hands, movements and collecting in general, we became good friends. He offered me these 6s around a year ago, and I bought them. They arrived, and at the time, I was happy with them. The ends links were fitted to a watch, and there they stayed.
It was only mentioned to me recently when I offered the said watch, and the end links for sale, that they maybe copies. The majority of you know that in this hobby you evolve, you learn more from 1 year to the next, you easily spot things now that maybe weren't that that obvious before. That has happened with these. I look at them now and it's glaringly obvious to me that they are repro.
I posted this thread yesterday to get absolute confirmation that these were copy links. I was maybe hoping for some good news, that they were actually a very rare set of genuine 6s only recently discovered, only produced for a round 2 weeks making them extremely rare and valuable (i'm joking). There are literally hundreds of members on here that know more than me, so it was worth a shot.
I immediately mentioned this to the seller when I became aware... he was apologetic and firmly put the blame on the guy he bought them from (whom he says he is no longer in contact with). I of course remonstrated that I was now substantially out of pocket (i think I paid 1400 euros) but any offer of a refund was not forthcoming. Bar actually getting on a plane and travelling to see this guy I don't hold out much hope for the refund everyone talks about.
Like I said you live and learn, and on this occasion I learn't. It's a costly lesson and hopefully anyone looking for genuine 6s can learn something from it too.
My thoughts: @smitty190373 isn't actually asking for advice on what to do. He already knows that, he only wanted to confirm his suspicions about the links. The point here isn't what should have happened, matters of principle etc. but to absorb past pain and minimise it in the future. The money's gone beyond recall and the best course is to write it off to experience. Anything else is needless additional stress and a waste of time.
