So I too recently had some doubts regarding a set of 6s bought in good faith. They weren't a bargain price, I paid the going rate at the time. It was brought to my attention a few months ago they may be repro, some people have since agreed, and some have said gen.

So as the other poster asked, what's the consensus on these double notch 6s please?

The groove is present but no smile/ridge line. They are smooth and worn at the edges and are not freshly cut pieces.

Apologies for a similar topic but I didn't want to hijack the earlier thread with different links. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Again, not a huge amount of experience with these but they look repro.

I hate telling people bad news, it does not make me happy at all, I am still learning myself and that is what keeps me interested.

    My thoughts>
The number 6 itself is not correct and shows what looks like engraver tip marks on close inspection,
The gauge of steel used does look thicker to me too. Also the machine marks in the notches looks a bit rough.
The fakes viewed from the side have a squared off appearance where the end piece curves underneath itself.

Hope you can get your money back.

    Cheers, Michael

Yep I do agree. I have learnt alot since I bought them, it was around a year ago.

It's an expensive lesson learnt. The seller has commented several times in the gen/repro 6 ends threads. We became friends over time but I had these pos around a year before I realised.

Following these 6s I also returned 2-3 sets of 'NOS cal 321 hands' to him. These were very good, but proved to be relume/respray pos also. They came in aged copy Freidler cards too.

    Be careful out there.

And no I didn't get my money back... €1500 down the pan! At least it wasnt the hands as well.

    Cheers.

The seller is active here? Have you reached out?

Yes of course... the blame was placed on his supplier.

I've written the money off and learnt a lesson.

Sorry that ever happened to you. Doesn't sound right to me that he placed the blame to his source without even providing refund.

Besides these, the ridges underside are too thick and look as if they are added to intentionally pass off as original. From the front side, the two plot lines are also too big.

I can see it quite clearly now, unfortunately a year ago I didn't.

    @smitty190373

This is how it should be done.

The blame moves down to your seller not the supplier, then your seller takes the blame to his supplier.

Cheers Mike . I know that of course, but a year has passed, he says there is no contact with his seller, yada yada. I have moved on, and I won't be going back.

Any right seller would volunteer to do the right thing.
    I will say no more.

I agree.. I would do the same.

I appreciate it was unintentional, and I, as you would, would have resolved it differently.

This is utterly irrelevant. One of the main reasons for buying from a dealer and paying a premium is piece of mind. They're meant to be adding value with their knowledge and experience to avoid issues such as this or at least stand by their product if it turns out to be wrong.

    Completely unacceptable.

I never said the seller was a dealer. He is a member/collector.

Dammit this is some shitty stuff. It is a minefield looking for authentic parts for your vintage watch. I am blow away that end links fetch (real ones) 1,000’s of dollars.
