Great story.

I am curious though if a dealer would ever remove links on a watch you may not buy. I never thought to ask to see exactly how it would fit - I figured you would have to buy it to get links removed.

Definitely not an expert (nor will I never consider myself to be one) though it seems that you still have a lot to learn about "salesman" in general on making/completing a sale.

You see a true, highly experienced salesman believes that if it will benefit the final sale on a watch.....they will be willing to practically do what is necessary to complete the sale. In this case removing a couple of links will not hurt anything since they can always be re-inserted back on the bracelet.

But with that being stated......it was apparent that the prior sell of either style of the watch.....in this case either the SpeedMaster or the SeaMaster had previously been arranged by my nephew prior to us arriving there (as I found out after the fact). I was explained that my nephew had arranged and ordered both from the store (who are authorized dealers for high priced watches such as Omega, Rolex, etc.) the previous month.....knowing full well that one or the other was going to be picked by me. That is why he had asked my opinion on them prior to that time.

Like I previously stated.....that particular jewelry store is not no ordinary store......it definitely is different....because I experienced it all. You see since the store is familiar with it's "high client important customer(s)", in this case my nephew (who has purchased all his watches and has a history established there) they are willing to make accommodations....since it was an all pre-arranged purchase.

So bottom line is....it was not a question of "if" a sale was to take place....the question was more of the fact to "which one" out of the two watches was going to be chosen.

Having said that, if you buy a watch and take it home, then decide to bring it back, dealers will often refuse to take it back if the bracelet has been sized.

Even if sized at that store?

Well I wouldn't really know anything specifically about that?......I am sure not all AD share the same policy, etc.

Though I do know for a fact that right before we left the salesman specifically told me that if I had any type of problems, concern, etc. about the watch itself that I could always take it back.....and no questions asked.

The salesman even told me he packed in the two removed links.

But none of that really matters to me because, personally this Omega SpeedMaster Professional watch is mine for life and the only way I'll ever part with it is the day I die.

That seems a little condescending. maybe I am reading it wrong. I do appreciate your story and comments nevertheless.

In any case, I personally would have been wondering what was going on, as I would not think that a salesperson would size a watch without commitment.

(I would think a salesperson would not want to size a watch for a tire-kicker (i.e., without a commitment), due to time and the desire for the next consumer for a "pristine" watch,)

In brief then, I was asking if anyone had dealers offering to remove links without commitment.

PS: When I bought a Speedmaster, I was clear that I was buying either a Speedmaster or a Seamaster. Nevetheless, sizing only happened once I decided and paid.

Well you can take it however you want......because your free to express yourself.......I just always tell it like it is........without any BS.

Though you did forget to point out that I had previously stated......"You see a true, highly experienced salesman believes that if it will benefit the final sale on a watch"......not any idiot salesman......which you had previously mentioned.......there is a difference, when dealing between the two.

If I ever encountered a salesperson that I personally felt that either had no desire or real interest to make a sale or just didn't care either way, were disrespectful to me, etc., etc.,..... I would just walk away because they really don't deserve my customer service.

What a kind and generous nephew, and I think you must be a very good uncle to deserve that gift.
[BTW, you don't have to argue with everyone who disagrees with you on the internet, or you will never have time to do anything else.]

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion......

I just posted my very first post on this forum (I belong to a number of other forums...so really nothing new) about sharing my first ever experience with getting an Omega watch....and that's it.

But I definitely have to response to "anyone" who may question the "authenticity of my post"......because like I previously posted.....I never post any BS about anything.

I appreciate your views though because your exactly correct!

It's fine to pride yourself on telling it like it is, but frankly, I think you are being a bit over-sensitive. Nobody questioned the authenticity of your post. A member simply posed a general question as to whether a salesman would typically size a bracelet for a casual shopper, and for some reason you took that post as a personal affront. (In your case, the purchase was already made by your nephew in secret, so it was a different situation.)

Perhaps it would be a good idea to spend some time browsing the forum to get a better sense of how people interact here. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Dude.....whatever!.........also though, there is no need to be a "Limp Dick" on my thread.

But hey A$$Hole....heed your own advice. 馃榿
