Hi everyone,
I’d like to share my Universal Genève Tele Sport Uni-Compax. Here’s a wrist shot showing its two subdials, applied numerals, and lovely dial patina.🙂
Does anyone else here have one with the same dial? I’d love to see yours!

Beautiful watch. IIRC "Telesport" is one of the UG mysteries we have not solved, like Compur 30/Compax 30.

This looks like the same dial, and different case/bezel. What is your case reference number?

Apparently, this dial wasn’t exclusive to just one reference. What do you think ‘Telesport’ means?

If I had to guess what telesport means, I’d assume it was two novel uses that a chronograph was good for: timing telephone calls, and timing sports matches (particularly soccer matches).

From what I gather, pay phone calls used to be billed in 3 minute increments, hence the subdial markings at 3 minutes, 6 minutes, and 9 minutes.

As for soccer, matches consist of two 45-minute halves, so the subdial is naturally configured to time a full soccer match.

I know all UG compurs/uni-compax models have the 3/6/9 markers and 45 minute subdial layout, but perhaps this was a short lived marketing term for the company - “telesport.” At least that’s my best guess.

Maybe, maybe not.

I don't know. You can see discussions here, and on the Italian forum with possible theories, in the links I posted earlier. It's not something I've researched myself.
