Just thought I'd share these with you guys. I was genuinely round my uncles a few weeks back for dinner when the conversation got on to watches. I remembered he had my grandfathers two old Omegas. Having not seen them before this is what he showed me. Allegedly he bought the Seamaster but the Speedmaster belonged to a bricklayer he employed (grandad was a builder) one day the watch stopped working so he just threw it in the bin. So naturally my grandad picked it up, had it serviced and hey presto. He ended up giving the bricklayer some money so alls well. I was reading a post earlier about somebody post farming, and somebody else replied saying "at least we haven't had a my uncle thread lately" made me laugh and also made me think of my own uncle. By the way, I myself am trying to get to the magical 200 post mark [emoji1][emoji23] Don't worry I'm not after a value or anything like that, I was just thrilled to see them. Lovely pair, can't get away with saying that very often. Both watches have aged well. Thanks for sharing.
A couple of great looking pieces! Love the honest vintage look on them both...remind your uncle to get them serviced but leave them unaltered. Thanks for sharing
Nice watches, I would be good to your favourite uncle from now on. Your post above has three times as many words than the numty post farmers 53 posts the other day
Since no one has said it yet, PLEASE make sure that your uncle DOES NOT send them to Omega for servicing. I'm guessing you are in the UK - STS is the place to send them if he wants to have them serviced. There is a lot of value there between the two watches, and that could easily be destroyed by a trip to Omega.
Ill be honest with you, i have absolutely no idea. I have very little knowledge at all about Seamasters and Speedmasters. I have learnt loads in this past year from reading this forum but haven't dug too deep into either of those
