My Speedy Triple Date is Amazing!!

I bought this watch new back in 2007, my first of many automatic movement pieces. While it doesn’t get much wrist time, it is amazing to me that it only loses 1/3 second per day after nearly 12 years. My PO is terrible at +6 seconds per day.

Looking good, if you are upset with your PO ever have it checked out or regulated? Mine used to be 1-2 sec a day had a 2500 D

Thanks! And you’re right. I’m not really upset at it. More of a disappointment. I’m just surprised how a modified ETA movement is performing better than an in-house one. Both watches were bought brand new with papers. The PO is the 8500 and 4 years old.

Btw I had the speedy for sale a few years ago and it was +3 secs/day. Weird that it self-corrected itself over the years. I’m glad I kept it.

My triple date, was bought new in 2008 (recycled old pic below because I'm not wearing it today) and was also my first pricey automatic watch (and my only watch for the next 10 years) wasn't keeping great time - it was losing 2-3 minutes per week. But I had never had it serviced (my bad). So, I had it serviced late last year and now it's keeping better time than my newer watches...gaining maybe 2-3 seconds per week (so more accurate, and in a better direction now, + rather than -). Hope you've had yours serviced once or twice in the 12 years you've had it (good timekeeping does not necessarily indicate no significant problems within).

Anyway, yours looks fantastic, but obviously I'm biased. After 10+ years of ownership I love looking at mine as much as when I first got it - I still wear it at least a couple of days every week.

Great looking watch! Looks like the same model as mine except different color. I like how Omega went with a polished bezel compared to the black and blue models. I wished they had used white on blue for the date wheels like they did white on black for the black model. I haven’t serviced mine yet since it’s keeping good time. I wear it maybe a few weeks in a year. TBH the R’s get more wrist time.

They're good watches the MK40 and great value for money, highly recommend these along with the Speedmaster Date as an excellent entry into both Speedmasters and sports chronographs in general.
