And before you question its roadability, note the UK number plates on it.

One of the best things I have seen on the internet in a long time.

At 6mph, it would do fine in DC traffic.

No headlights, no taillights, no turn signals, no safety inspection sticker, surely not licensed for use on the public roads, in spite of the number plate,

sounds like half the “licensed” vehicles I see on the road here in Florida, so it would fit right in!

Hilarious. I recall the steam engined locomotives from my childhood.

Fun video!

Perhaps presents an equal opportunity as an electric to burn down the garage.

Apparently, England used “steam lorries” a lot between the wars. Hard to imagine roads swarming with them.

Well, that would be one way for England to reduce their dependency on foreign fossil fuels.

Perfectly legal, if lights are fitted they must work but not required in daylight. No requirement for turn indicators, the drivers' arms will suffice. Safety inspection stickers have never been a requirement in the UK.

There is a Stanley Steamer that used to show up at the local Cars & Coffee. Pic from google, not the car I actually saw.

If you are going to run wood, a gasifier is the way to go. Wayne Keith modified his truck to run on wood scraps from his own sawmill. It can drive highway speeds without a problem. His ingenuity defies the (incorrect) stereotype of a dumb southern American hillbilly.

Pfft. At 6 mph it would have seemed like the driver was crazy/ suicidal driver if that car had been in the Georgetown traffic jam I got stuck in earlier this afternoon.

I used to know all the places I could stop to use the bathroom between the Conn Ave exit of the beltway and I street….we aren’t talking more than 1/2 dozen miles- but it could take 1-2 hours

I saw quite a few of machines like this on public roads in Scotland, usually on weekends when they were on their way to field days.
