    Hi,
First time here for me. I just received my first vintage omega, a Seamaster Cosmic cal. 552 from an eBay seller.
Would you guys be so kind as to provide me with your opinions?
The watch has the Cal 552 Movement wristband, as in the photo.
The watch seems to be like new, probably too new to be from 1966. Any suggestions or comments?
What is the fair price on your opinion?

    Thanks
    Carlo

It looks like coming from Korea, does it?

Um, it's a redial. The fonts are off. Biggest tell, though, is that the crosshairs should go through all text including the seamaster.

I think it's a redial, however seller pics are too overproduced to say anything categorically. Could you make some frontal dial shots with natural light?

Sorry, I beg to differ. This is not true for Cosmics with this type of dial. Different fonts were used on the applied logo dials.

Dial looks correct and original. Aged lume in all the correct places and matching the hands.

The case is another matter, having been quite heavily polished.

Ahha, I stand corrected. With the overprocessed photos I just assumed it's a Korean special...

Welcome Carlo.. Good looking watch ! Gotta love a black dial / steel case / and BoR

@X350 XJR Would this dial be considered a "technical dial"? Certainly looks the part.

That’s a stunner! Regardless of originality, it’s a beautiful watch and you should wear with pride. That will look just as sharp with suit and tie and it will with jeans and t-shirt. This style of Omega is incredibly versatile.

I think the dials original. The '-T Swiss Made T -' is correct for this period, and the crosshair doesn't go through the logo on these either.

Case looks slightly polished but from the pics it looks like it's from a dealer so one would expect that.

    Value around $650-700 with bracelet?

Really, even though the crosshairs should go through all text including the Seamaster text?

I would also add that there are examples of Cosmic crosshairs dials where the crosshair does not go through the word Seamaster nor the word Cosmic, before continuing to the 6th hour marker. As far as I’m aware these are also genuine.

    Thank you.
I was led to believe that was one of the things to look out for, but seems it's not that easy so still lots to learn.

In the unlikely event that I wanted to buy a watch from a dealer, I certainly wouldn't buy from one who uses artfully-lit photos like that. What are they trying to hide? Photos taken in normal lighting conditions, preferably natural light, are essential to assess any watch properly. I'll repeat what I've previously said on this forum: the quality of a watch is usually in inverse proportion to the slickness of the photos.
That applies to the older pre-Cosmic Seamasters. It's true in 99.9% of cases, but there is an exception which was posted on here not that long ago. It's one of the chunky, desirable case refs that sometimes houses a chronometer. I can't remember the model number but I expect someone does.
