I ordered it through the Omega website. Last time it became available, I dilly-dallied too long and they were sold out by the time I made up my mind to move forward. Local AD never sees these, so I've had no chance to see it in the flesh and try it on.

I figured that with free shipping and free returns, there wasn't much risk. Natch I'd prefer to buy one at a discount, but that just doesn't seem to be happening these days. Used ones are rare and often priced above MSRP.

It arrived today, incredibly over-packaged with a shipping box, an outer box wrapped in paper and a ribbon, and the inner box with the wooden Omega box enclosed within. Ironically, the watch itself was rather carelessly put into the box, and was rather loose. Half of the plastic had already fallen off or was barely hanging on.

They put some kind of weird tag on the bracelet, like a security tag on your power meter, to see if you actually wore it and/or resized it I suppose. Instead (since I have no screwdrivers here at work) I just stuffed some Kleenex in the bracelet to keep it in place.

I have tiny wrists. One of my concerns was, at 40.5 mm and with a lug-to-lug of 48mm would it be too big. It's big on me, but I think I can pull it off.

What I wasn't expecting was for it to be so shiny and polished. I like it, just not 100% sure yet if I'm going to keep it. I'll size it and wear it around the house tonight and see.

Yes, that's actually a picture of me, not some fabulous highly paid hand model. 😉

Congrats on your new piece and I hope you decide to keep it.

I received mine last Friday and within 24 hours changed it to a blue leather strap. I agree it's very shiny but putting it on leather tones it down a lot.

Congrats, the blue one is the best of the bunch imho, isn't the l2l of 58mm a typo?

58, 48, whatever.

Thanks for the catch, I'll fix that.

I bought the same reference. Has barely left my wrist in 3 months. As of today it’s +1.5spd total. Have not hacked seconds once. Gains ~3/4 spd on wrist and loses it crown up at night.

This watch is my absolute favorite right now, it has exceeded my expectations. I love the polish, has been great for business and travel. I’m not even close to being sick of wearing it, it has surprised me.

I love using the Chrono to track a second time zone when needed since it reads like a clock. I hope you enjoy the watch and keep it!

Looks great! Although I don’t mind the shiny at all. It gives it dressy vibes so I feel comfortable wearing it with business dress and since it’s a Chrono it works great with casual as well. Very comfortable and attractive bracelet as well, I was easily able to get the fit perfect. Wish I could say that about the AT bracelet, most frustrating ever for me.

It's also a very crafty GMT although you have to wait for midday/midnight at your second desired time zone to launch the Chrono for the GMT function.

Lovely looking watch! I have thin wrists, so pretty much any Omega I have worn looks big on me.... I've learned not to care and just enjoy wearing them.. Along with my oversized aviator glasses😁

One of my favorite features of this movement! Have used it many times during travel or just to track another time zone a colleague is in. I used to have a GMT, I like this much better. Reads at a glance like a second dial! Simple & elegant hack I really appreciate about this watch. Different watches come and go in a collection, this is a special watch to me and a keeper for sure.

Update: (RTMOP)

I wore it all night, very carefully, and decided that it wasn't for me. The wife (who bought it for me as a gift, long story...) asked what I thought, and I summarized it as "I'd love it at half the price". If I (she/we) had paid $5K, I'd keep it. At 10, no, I just didn't love it enough. Just a little too blingy with all of the polished surfaces, and the blue face, although gorgeous, wasn't special enough. I've had three or four Speedmasters in the past, so I'm not taken in by the hype of the name. I gotta say though, I do love those arrow hands.

So, I sent it back. Omega was great, they sent me a FedEx label, and although they said it would take 6-10 business days to review the watch condition, they had it processed and authorized the refund in 2 business days from receipt. I was a little concerned that they'd notice that I had resized it, but I was incredibly careful not to bugger up the screws or scratch the bracelet, and they either didn't notice or were cool about it.

To make up for my disappointment, on Watchuseek I found a very nice pre-owned discontinued Speedy Racing that I'd been debating over for more than a year, so I'm buying that one today. I could get a NOS for about $1000 more, but this one is so nice there isn't any difference.

Here's the new one! It was the yellow highlights that did it for me. A little splash of color...

I just realized reviewing the pic, that using the phone with the "selfie" camera, it reverses the image, which is why the writing is all backwards. Hmmmm...
